inertia switch

Can someone tell me where to find the inertia switch on a 96 dakota 2 wheel, 3.9, auto. Also, does the switch shut off the fuel and the spark or just one of them.
thanks, Joe

inertia switch or something else????

Someone told me to check the inertia switch. I'm not sure if they have them either. I wouldn't know what or where to look for with the fuses and relays. Do you mean the under dash fuses or under the hood? It appears I don't have fuel or spark.
Thanks, Joe

do you have an owners manual?? you can check the fuel pump, open the fuel cap have someone turn the key on and off a couple of times you should hear the pump cycle, check under the hood fuse panel should be relay for the pump, you can take a wire off of the cap or coil pak(not sure what you have) and turn it over and see if you have spark!

Never heard of one on our trucks. Not saying there isn't one, but FORD used to put them on everything, and may still. I had problems with that on my 90 Tempo (Not proud of the car, but it was my 1st car...) it was just a trip switch in the trunk..

I'd say check the coil for spark, and check your fuel delivery.

inertia switch on Dodge Dakota

Thanks to those who helped with my question about an inertia switch. I had no spark and no fuel. Somebody said to check the relays. I found an auto shut down relay under the hood. I figured that was it but I switched one in place of it and it made no difference. I still thought the relay made sense, so I traced the wire harness going into it. I found a completely corroded wire. I spiced it and the truck started right up. Thanks to all those that helped.
