I am currently having an engine related problem and have posted about it. This thread is about an unrelated problem.

The only other problem I have had with this car is that all of the sudden, the fan will only operate on position 4...whether on AC/vent/heater....makles no difference. All or nothing.

I ahve also noticed that it always comes on at the floor vents and then after a few seconds it switches to whatever the vent settings are. Not sure really if it did this prior to the fan issue or not.

Any ideas on this one? I am tired of blowing the face off of every passenger that gets in on a hot day.

Thanks

first one is the blower resistor there is a thread somewhere in the stratus forum about it do a search. for the HVAC controls there could be another problem wrong with them and could be messing uo the blower too.

I got a 2002 stratus and when the a/c heat, whatever is turned on it blows out the floor vents first, and it works on all fan 4 speeds.

sounds like its a little out of adjustment and it doesnt want to keep the flapper in place. may just need to be adjusted.

Ran into the same issue with my stratus..... it would work on the # 4 setting for the blower and nothing else.. Ive heard about the switches burning out quickly.. if they are toggled back and forth a bit.. I just replaced the whole assembly from a salvaged unit..(ran about $30 ) .... anyway as for it switching from floor to other settings.. such as defrost for example... the system works on vacuum I believe so it takes a lil bit for it to engage.. Im not 100 % sure on this.. but might not be much to worry about as far as the placement settings... blower switch is easily replaced

Question: I'm having a problem with my 2004 Statrus...
The door locks are not working correctly. When you turn on the car you can't lock the doors but when you turn the car off and take the key out, it locks. Does anyone know why this would be doing this?

Hey there... no worries on this issue... that is just a precaution that comes stock with stratus w/ power locks. Its intentions are for !not! being able to lock your car doors with the keys still in the ignition.. saving some people the hastle of hiring someone to unlock their car doors.
