hey i have a 1986 Dodge Ram 150 with V8 318 2bl carb.......... it all of a sudden lost power after changing pickup, cap, wires, plugs ........ it starts ok and sounds ok but if you go to speed up it hesitates ...... so you can only speed up very slow..... but once your up to speed it seems to run fine just lacks power.......

anyone know what could be causing this??

Did you remove the distributor when you changed the pickup?

I know this is an old post, but if you have not yet found the problem, try this, check your coil, do an Ohm test. I recently bought the same truck, it had no power, the fellow selling it said there was no compression in #3 cyl. After I did a compression test, which resulted in good compression through-out all cylinders, I started looking elsewhere, and found the coil resistance was higher than specified. After a $15 replacement, I had all the power I should, with what had been done to the vehilce. It had an 8 inch lift, 35" tires when I bought it. I'm in the process of re-gearing it to compensate for the tall tires, in order to bring back "stock" performance in the power band. Hope this helps anyone having similar issues.
