Can anyone help?
I had a bad alternator and after I changed it every time I start my van the console lights flash on and off. After I drive awhile they go out. I'm wondering if I have to reset something or maybe my battery is gone. Suggestions Please.

You haven't said what year your van is so I am going to assume it is a 96-2000 model. If this is the case you will have to perform a quick learn procedure of the heater controls. I would stop by your friendly dealer to ask to use his service manual, or if you can't do that I can try to find time to look it up for you. But can't promise a speedy response.

Hope this helps

You need to get the service manualto get the procedures for recalibrating the heater controls.
This is why your lights are flashing.

I have the same problem after the battery died. My friendly Dodge dealer wants to "perform a diagnostic check" on the van. No price quote given, but it will not be free.

They did the same thing in June of 2000 when the original battery died. Cost was $50 for the recalibration. I stood there and tried to see what order they pressed the heater/ac buttons. Unfortunately, I don't remember all they did.

I greatly appreciate any information given. I have never owned a vehicle that was such a PIA and costly to replace a battery.

Listed below is the procedure I found to fix the blinking heater control lights.

With engine on set blower motor to high, set mode position knob to panel (i.e. full left), open all A/C outlets, set temperature to cold (both levers if so equipped). Now press the wash and rear wiper buttons on the A/C panel simultaneously for 5 seconds (until all LED's light). This should get the test started. Assorted lights on this panel will flash as different tests are run.

Eventually, if the tests are passed the rear wiper LED should be the only light flashing. Push the rear wiper button to exit test mode and you should be home free.

In my case, after about 15 minutes, all lights went off, and everything worked properly after that. I did this while driving.
