Getting my new truck tomorrow and need to know.....

How do you disable the annoying seatbelt chime in the new Dakota?

I almost always drive with my seatbelt on, but not in parking lots, and not on the beach where I drive quite a bit, so the chime absolutely has to go!

And please don't tell me to just click the middle seat belt into the driver's seatbelt latch. lol (my truck isn't going to have a middle front seat anyway)

THANKS in advance......

Thanks for the reply. I just figured it out a few minutes ago!

I have sooooooo many things to learn about this vehicle.... I've never owned a truck with so many settings to change and customize..... as many times as I've explained these things to customers, now that it's mine I have to read the whole book from end to end.

Ok, for the benefit of those who don't know or for some reason don't have an owner's manual for their truck..... here are the step-by-step instructions:

1. sitting in the driver's seat, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and buckle the driver's seatbelt.

2. start the engine and wait for the seatbelt warning light to turn off.

3. Within 60 seconds of starting the vehicle, unbuckle and rebuckle the driver's seat belt at least three times within 10 seconds, ending with the seatbelt buckled.

4. A single chime will sound to signify that you have successfully completed the programming.

To reactivate the seatbelt warning chime, follow the same steps.

This forum is the best. In less than 5 minutes I've fixed the two things that bugged me the most with this truck...1. changed the cig lighter to hot all the time and now stopped the constant seatbelt chime. Thanks

You guys are lucky to have such a simple solution....anything like this out there for the 2003 Ram 1500 Hemi? So desperate....just tried the Dakota solution...didn't work of course.
