hey guys our family dog is sick. My stepdad called me this morning and told me. I knew she was sick yesterday but not this severe. She had a very bad seizure. Thney had to pump her with iv's today at the vets. If my mom hadnt brougfht her in this morning she would have died, she couldnt do anything, not evn walk and eat and drink. I was up helping my mom today and we talked about it. Before i got home today my mom was going to get her at the vets. She is doing a little better although is still rather weak, she can use her front paws but not her back ones yet (just a little bit), she also has an enlarged heart. The future is unknown, but we may have to put her down so she isnt in pain anymore. We love the dog to death too. All we can do is hope and pray. Im trying to keep busy so i dont think about it that much. What would you guys do if you were me? How would you handle it?

Dragon I once had a dog I had for 15 years that got like that and I chose to put him to sleep. Was the hardest thing I could of ever done but was able to to it knowing he would no longer be suffering. Do what you need to and make sure what you do is for the best for the dog and not you. I am really sorry to hear that dogs are such wonderful animals. I'll keep ya'll in my thoughts

I have gone through this twice. Once with a cat and once with a dog. In the case of the cat, I prayed for a happy death and the experience I had was somethig I'll never forget.
In the dog's case (duchess, a pure bred german shepard), she was just so sick that I made the decision to have her put to "sleep".

It is a terribly emotional time and much stress - especially if the pet has been a long time part of the family.

In retrospect, both pets (as well as both of my current dogs) have given me much joy and I am grateful for that. Each time either one needs medical attention, they get it. I don't want any pet of mine to suffer needlessly. Sometimes being sick is just a part of getting well and sometimes it is the coming of a natural death. We are the master of our pets - they have been entrusted to us and we need to make the best decision we can for their sake not for ours.

Hang in there the best you can, and make the best decision you can under the circumstances because no matter what the end result is, it will involve some amount of suffering. Willingly accept that, and it will be a little easier on the whole family.

God Bless you and your whole family; try to have a Happy Christmas.
