roof mount DVD with Sunroof?

I just got an '05 SLT Durango with a sunroof. Has anyone seen or had installed a headliner mounted DVD player with the sunroof.

I would guess that it would only be supported by the headliner as the sunroof sunshade would be sliding between the headliner and roof exactly where I would want the player and screen.

I would wonder if the headliner could support the player without sagging over time.

Yeah

Technically I guess it would be just "over" but yeah when it slides completely back I'm thinking it must retract over the DVD unit.

I installed one in mine. I did not have it but I understand some Durangos came with a DVD prep kit. It should be listed on your window sticker. I bought just the dvd unit on ebay and had to buy the mounting bracket and wiring harness separately. The headliner alone will not support the unit. Make sure you order the bracket for the sunroof equipped Durango. The dealer ordered the non-sunroof bracket by mistake. Drove me crazy until I finally said there no way this will work. Went back to the dealer and we figured out the mistake.

Overhead DVD Units

I think the Limiteds come with the mounting bracket already installed above the headliner. I don't have the factory unit but had a larger 10.4" Rosen screen installed and the installer said it mounted perfectly to the existing brackets.

I too had a Rosen 10.5" aftermarket DVD player installed in my LTD Hemi D'ango. Sunroof shade slides back with no problems, and the screen unit (separate from the player--placed at the back of the center console above the rear cupholders) is positioned in front of the dome light that's above the backs of the center seats.

One problem still not fixed by the installer: he wired the lights on the DVD screen to the stock dome light circuit, which has a dimming-then-off feature. The Rosen lights cannot handle this. They have to be wired to a direct on/off 12 vlt circuit. If not, they flash on/off for about 3-4 seconds before turning off. A little annoying. Manual clearly states this, but the installer doesn't get it.

How did you install the overhead bracket? I just got mine and cannot figure out how it installs by looking at it, please give some tips to ease installation as I do not want to take the whole headliner down if not required. Thanks!

I did not install the unit myself. I had it done at a local shop, so I do not know how it was done. CB3

I took my headliner down. After doing it once I now know I could have done it without dropping the right side but you are going to just about remove the whole thing (front, left, and back) to do it right.

Could you take pics if you figure out how the bracket installs?
