1984 Dodge D100 225 Slant Six,
I love this engine and it runs great except for one thing.....POWER!
Without any major internal components what is the best way to add some power to this energizer bunny?

Another option is to find a late 70's Apen or Volare, etc. with the 2bbl. Super Six setup and grab everything. Be prepared to pay for those parts as these Super Six cars are getting hard to find that aren't picked clean.

I do believe Clifford makes a TBI kit for the slant six, but not 100% sure.

I just went on their website and according to it they sell a Weber multi-port fuel injection (MPFI) kit and a Weber throttle-body injection (TBI) kit for the slant six. Each kit is close to $2000.

A slant responds like any other engine. Get the air in faster, squeeze it tighter, light it off better and get it out faster.

A SuperSix will offer noticable improvement, but really needs a bigger exhaust to work best.

The most noticable improvement is probably something you don't want to do with the price of gas where it is, but lower gears will take advantage of the slant's good low end torque.

Another thing to add is that combined with the Super Six option. Doug Dutra makes his "Dutra Dual" exhaust manifold. You can find these by just doing a web search.

Most modifications that you can do to your slant will only improve it a few tenths.
Not built for performance. Small bore, small displacement, small ports, only 6 cylinders.

Enjoy it for what it's worth or drop in a V8.

there are six packs available for the slant and you might still be able to find a 4bbl or a dual 2bbl but with some head work and a bigger exaust will set it off nicely there are also cams built for them depending on what your looking for out of it but www.slantsix.org is a intresting place for information and idea's

Don't under estimate the power of a "hot rodded" /6 young Skywalker. These engines can be built up to produce quite a bit of power. I've seen slant six powered drag machines running in the low 12's and better. Not too shabby for the "leaning tower of power."

Ok I will not argue with someone that wants to do something different or "Do what they say can't be done"

But really, why bother. To get a slant to 300hp it would be a full race motor. A 360 can do that and is still reliable, mild and cheap.

What makes a slant lengendary is it's reliability and durability, not power.

BTW We have a 65 Belvedere with a 225. It's not a daily driver but it's also no garage/trailer queen. It's never been apart and with only addition of electronic ignition it runs as good or better than new. Too bad it's so slow.

considering you can take 100 thou off the head and block to up th compression ratio and i've heard of one that was bored 130 thou over they can remain very reliable and quite powerful and there are some wild cams available for the leaning tower of power

Have you been to any slant six drags? Those things are running times equal or better than what alot V8's run.

I think the slant six crowd is a different type of people....they know how to get that little engine built and built properly.

Granted they aren't racing slant sixes in B-bodies or E-bodies...mainly A-body cars, but impressive nonetheless.
