99 stratus dying..

My mothers 99 stratus will die if she is going over 50ish and goes to give it gas..eg..going up a hill..once it dies she pulls over and it starts right back up??!!if she stays around 30 or below..no problems..any ideas?oh..also seems to be leaking oil..not a lot..dont know if this is related..thanks! ![]() Last edited by beatle1716 : 02-28-2005 at 10:06 AM. 1. Is it Auto or manual Transmission?
2. What is the Oil leakage color? (red like?) 3. Have you checked oil-level? 4. Does the engine get hot or warmer during this dieout? (Check the temp gauge) 5. Also check cooling water level to be sure. My Stratus had a bit similar problem, but in that case it was due to clogged fuel injectors and fuel system. This was probably due to poor fuel quality. Red oil leakage comes from transmission and/or powersteering. To see wat color it might be, put a big piece of paper under the place You suspect the leakage is coming from. Good luck |
