My dad owns a 1972 Dodge W-600 crew cab, four-wheel drive, 20"duallies, 318 one-barrel oil bath, with a humongous PTO winch on the back. It was a utility truck at a mine here in WV. We got it for free for cleaning up the cable and junk around it.

I just wanted to know if anyone knows anything about this truck, how common is it? has anyone else restored one of them, does anyone still drive one? how do i go about restoring it?? etc. Oh and do you think i could fit a cummins or cat diesel under the hood?

At work, we have a 74' D-800 (dump truck and snow plow) I know it's not the same thing, but fairly close. 413 under the hood. I'm the only one who ever works on it, and due to it's age, that's quite often. If you have a specific question, maybe I can answer.
So far as fitting something else under the hood, I wouldn't see why not.... There is *so* much room there... I routinely sit on the fender with my feet on the frame when working under the hood.... Besides.... with a cutting torch and arc welder, you can make most anything fit ;^)
