4 cylinder to 8 cylinder

Can someone who owns a 2013 hemi tell me if the 2013 still has the engine that cuts out 4 of the cylinders when it does not need 8. I can not find this out from dealers or the Ram customer service. The 2012 models would say Eco in the display whenit cut out 4 cylinders but I would be damned if I can see where mine says it. Please someone with a 2013 fill me in.
Thanks in advance.

Sadly, all Ram's w/ HEMI's (except 2500s), starting in 2006 feature MDS (Multi Displacement System) a.k.a. "4 cylinder mode". However, if you use your ERS (Electronic Range Select) and pick the highest gear, it'll prevent the engine from going into MDS mode. I drive like that all the time.

I have had it on, I have had it off (via my tuner). I do the ERS thing in town, as I hate feeling it going in and out of MDS. On the highway though, I let the MDS do its thing.

My 2013 has it. I never feel it when it activates, but I only have 500 miles on my truck right now.

You can turn the ECO light on and off in the vehicle settings menu.

All the ECO light indicates is that you're driving in an economical fashion. It doesn't necessarily mean that you're in 4-cyl mod.

Why disable MDS? I'd rather save the gas and keep the money in my pocket.

I disabled mds on my 2010 and never noticed a difference in gas mileage. And many exhaust systems sound like crap in mds...

There are plenty of guys on here that are anti-mds for various reasons. I have it turned off on my truck, not because I don't like it, but because with my mods it won't stay engaged longer then a few seconds when on the highway, but I can tell a difference when I have it on in my FE, especially city mileage.

I also have a 2012 1500 and I can't tell when it's on or off by the feel. I always assumed that "econ" meant on.

On my 2010 with 58 k I can't tell when it kickes in and out. On my 08 however, I knew everytime. There was a delay between the push of the gas petal and activation of all 8 cyl. Kinda drove me nuts but I put up with it for the gas mileage.

I just test drove a '13 Hemi with 6 speed transmission, and I couldn't tell anything about the 4 cylinder mess thingamabob. Next, I want to drive the 8 speed! That's the one I'd get.
