I have a 99 ram 1500 Sport with a 5.9. When I start the truck, everything runs fine. After about 10 min of warm up, it will sometimes start to run rough at idle. I will be sitting in the truck, and it is running fine, and then all of the sudden starts to run rough. It happens instantly just like that. If I turn the truck off and back on, that sometimes fixes it for a little bit, but it does happen again eventually. The only codes I get are for random missfire. Seems like it is running really rich when it starts to choke. I can hear the IAC sucking a lot of air too. Thanx in advance for any help you guys might have!

How long have you had the problem. Replacing IAC should help its 30 bucks so worth a shot. My dodge has always smelt rich when first started

Have you gone over the ignition system? When was the last it had new plugs cap & rotor? Did you check your plenum gasket? I'd check and see what kind of fuel pressure you have also.

A 2nd request to look down into the plenum, I rebuilt mine on the 5.9 durango.
The other thought is the ignition coil get old and the heat buildup can wear it out.

Ignition system should be fine. I have tuned up the truck several times since this problem has been occurring with no difference. I haven't checked the plenum gasket and will definitely try that. Fuel pressure is fine with the new fuel pump installed last summer. I installed a new IAC already and no change. I was wondering about the crank sensor......?
