Can a loose gas cap cause an 0700 code?

MIL came on on my 04 Dakota 4.7L. Checked the codes, 0442 and 0700.

Web searching showed 0442 is an evap system leak, checked the gas cap and it was loose.

Any chance that could also cause a bogus 0700 code? Some time back the TPS went bad, causing the transmission to do all kinds of crazy stuff but the code was for bad/wrong TPS voltage.

Ever since I changed the transmission fluid and filters last year (screw on filter had a 2008 date) it's tended to be pretty harsh up shifting at times.

Papers that came with the truck said it had a lot of expensive transmission work done for exactly the same symptoms caused by the bad TPS. I bet it was the TPS then and either the dealer charged for the tranny work and just replaced the TPS, or cluelessly did a bunch of needless tranny work *then* figured out the real cause.

Yes. A loose gas cap can cause evap codes. As far as the trans, make sure the bands are torqued to spec and you have the right fluid in there. Good luck!
