Power-folding mirrors?

Hi, just wondering if anybody knows if power folding mirrors are available for a 2012 Ram 1500? Last summer I heard rumors that these would be available on 2013s but haven't seen them yet.. if so hopefully they would fit 2012s too!

Just to clarify, I am talking about power-folding mirrors, not manual folding mirrors with power adjustments/heat etc. I have to manually fold my driver mirror everyday so I can fit in my garage which gets slightly annoying, expecially if its raining out! Thanks!

2013 has them. I was thinking the same thing. Towing Mirrors are not power folding though.

Here is some information for all of you thinking you can add these to your truck.... I am very dissappointed with this now. Here is the email i sent to Chrysler:

****

Here is the background:
When i was purchasing my 2013 sport, my dealer only had ones with the trailer towing mirrors. This, he tells me, is all he orders. Anyway, since my 2010 Sport had the sport mirrors that i really like, i wanted the same ones since i like the auto dimming and the new fold away feature.

It was a deal breaker for me and he said they looked into it and could swap a set off the next sport they order in. Took a few months and the new one arrived, they did the swap from trailer tows to the proper sports, even did the door bezel with the retract button.

Well, the auto dimming and the retract do not work. they informed me that since my truck was not originally ordered with this option, they could not put it on mine without some module and they did not know which one and if it even could be done. All the other functions work - heated, motion, lights.

I know there are modules for everything on the these and specifically asked them to confirm that this could be done because i really wanted these. Either they floated me a line to get the sale or they were miss-informed and/or they do not want to make the said module/programming changes.

****

Here is the reply i got .....

****

I received your information from my US counterpart, Chris, and was able to look into this further for you. Your truck did not come equipped from factory with the auto dimming and fold away mirror feature. Therefore the vehicle can not be programmed to accommodate the options, if installed afterwards.

Unfortunately, there is no Mopar Kit available to swap the tow mirrors for the sport mirrors to include these options. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I hope this helps answer your question.

Let me know if you have any other inquiries.

I have the power folding mirrors on my '13 SLT.. To be honest, I'd rather have the tow mirrors- these seem awkward shaped or placed- something is just not right... Has the tow mirrors on my 07- preferred them... However, the new truck is a machine!

The dealer ought to be able to flash your computer and input that you now have the folding mirrors. Surely it can be done, they just don't want to do it.

It's the same deal with the Expresses with power/heated mirrors wanting to put the power/ heated Sport mirrors with the puddle lamp on their truck. It just doesn't work, lots of poeple have tried without luck.

Sounds like BS to me. If they can put it in at factory, it should be able to be done outside those walls as well.

It's time to wave Bye-Bye and put the pedal on the floor

Anything can be added to any existing truck. The Chrysler Care guy is correct, there is not "Kit" for the swap. The key word is "Kit", chrysler doesn't package all the parts in one box for a bolt-for-bolt swap, but the Dealers parts department can order any and all of the parts necessary so you can create your own "kit".

Do a web search, or ask the service guy for "folding mirrors not working", you'll find sites that suggest what components to check or replace. The search results make the "parts list" of items you need to buy to make your own swap "kit"

There are extra modules that would have to be added into the vehicle... and they may or may not work with the previous models years... basically it could eventually be done, but it probably wouldnt be worth the hassle or money. trust me i already thought about doing it. some times modules from one year will not communicate to the next years modules.. its just the way it is.
