Hi,

Before pulling the trigger on the tuner, i have a couple of question.

1- Better or worse mpg after the tuner?
2- How's the transmission tuning? A little better then stock or really better?
3- Do you really feel the power? 32hp and 28lb-ft seem like a lot on stock N/A engine.

Thanks
Pat

I am very pleased with my bullydog. I did see a .5 mpg increase the first day then I started to enjoy the new power. You can adjust the rpm's at WOT from 1-2 2-3, top speed, turn on/off of MDS, gear adjustment. Even if you plan on some bolt on's and even headers down the road you'll be fine with the bullydog

Where did you start at? Because .5 mpg from 9 mpg is good. But from 20 mpg it's nothing.

Do you like the Bully Dog transmission tuning? Do you really feel de difference or is it like stock but shift higher?

I don't plan going all out with engine modification. So yes it would be good for me. If i do something, it would be headers. It's not like the Hemi doesn't have enough power stock. I just want to have it all... No more torque management and all that stuff.

But right now i want it to save on gas and to shut off the MDS. So i'm not sure i would really save that much. Right now i'm at 13.7 mpg average with 80% to 90% of city driving. If i could get it up to 15 mpg, the tuner would pay for itself in 6 to 8 months.

One thing for sure, i wouldn't use the new found power, because i have my 16 months old daughter with me 95% of the time.

I started around 11.3 mpg. I haven't messed with the transmission setting yet

All for tuners especially if you have tire size changes to contend with. That said to alleviate torque management frustrations a quality aftermarket 2800 stall converter would largely knock that out and is about a wash on mpg. In town mileage sounds like you have 3.55s or 3.21s & 20s. fwiw 17s & 3.92s should help in town mileage markedly.

I have a Crewcab Outdoorsman 4x4. It came stock with 275/70R17 and 3.92 LSD. Still on stock tire, but with Bilstein set at 2.8'' of lift. The lift didn't affect my millage tho.

Right now i'm getting between 11 and 12 mpg, because of winter. My worse was my last tank, getting 11 mpg and my best was this summer on a road trip getting 20.7 mpg and the truck weighting 6700lbs.

Getting 11 and 12 mpg right now push me toward the tuner... If it can really help. It did help on my last truck. Got about 2 mpg better with the tuner on my F150, but i don't know if i can expect that with my Ram. I was getting better MPG with my F150 on 35'' MT and 5.5'' of lift then i'm getting with a mostly stock Ram.

Wow thats a heavy truck. Sounds like your biggest challenge is crap winter fuel. Possibly making the computer pull timing. Are you running 89 octane? Are you running a good name brand fuel or open market fuel?

It was loaded. Cab full of cloths, bags... and with 2 adults and my 11 months old daughter at the time. Dirtbike in the bed with other things. I was going on vacation for 2 weeks.

Running 91 from Ultramar 99% of the time. The other 1% is 91 from Shell. My millage is just bad. Even with summer gas, i get around 13 mpg max in the city. I tried 89 and didn't see any difference in millage. I pay the same price for 91 and 89, so i stay with 91.

My F150 was EPA rated at 13 mpg city and 17 mpg highway. Even on 35'' MT and 5.5'' of lift i had an average of 14.2 mpg summer and 12.5 mpg winter.

That the reason i'm looking at the tuner. My Ram is suppose to get better millage then my last truck. But it get worse millage and it's running stock tires, where as my F150 had 35''.

I'd grab one, might see one to a few mpgs. That just seems really low to me imo.

One thing I've noticed about all my dodges is the mileage really takes a crap in the winter. Its been at or below zero Fahrenheit here for the last couple weeks. Summer mileage was around 16-17 and winter mileage has been 10-11. Thats hiway at cruise set around 75-80mph.

I might try 91 on this tank and see what it does. I don't think I have ever even seen 93 around here.

Does it still feel ''weak'' when you floor it from a start? Or was the TM reduce from BullyDog's tuning?

I haven't had a chance to go WOT from a dead start. I can tell you if you have 3.55 gears it might make it feel "week". The tunes lower the amount of torque management that is applied to the truck
