Hey folks. My truck is '12 bighorn. I want to know those who have upgraded the muffler, what muffler did you upgrade to and Did you really notice a difference efficiency wise? I have no problem with the way it sounds now, I was just thinking maybe I could help it breathe better. I am not sure how our stock muffler's do.

I have a Flowmaster and to be honest I only felt a small change but I do love the way it sounds

Went with the Mufflex DOD14M (14" Magnaflow muffler). Didn't notice much in the way of "efficiency" but as with any muffler swap, it's more for sound than anything.

So know one has noticed any real gains MPG wise or power wise? Personally I think the stock muffler sounds fine. I guess Ill look towards another mod.

You will more than likely get more "feeling" of power by opening up the intake end of the system...the stock intake setup is quite restrictive.

A new muffler with a flow through design will obviously help but you won't necessarily "feel" it until you open up the entire system from beginning to end.

Guess I should have mentioned, I have a CAI installed already. Not much more opening of the intake than that short of porting the TB, Which is little bit more than cost of muffler, lol.

how is the intake tube that Moe's sells that goes into the stock air box? or is it not worth it

Smooth tube vs corrugated tube will always help with uniform airflow and air delivery, but I feel the filter box and connection to the TB are additional points of concern. I know those were big issues with the 3rd GEN's.

Maybe it's just me, but my Hooker/Holley Aerochamber muffler seemed to do a little bit performance wise... Not sure about mileage.. it sounds mean too. Haha

I have the 18" Magnaflow....straight through. It's not too loud, and adds a little more pep. MPG wise, not really a difference. But if you have ever seen the inside of a stock muffler, it has to help.

Every thing I have read for almost 4 years has been that the factory intake system flows great. Its nothing like 3rd gens. Many have posted that CAIs are a waste of money for a mildy modded motor.

I have the Mufflex DOD14M, no real efficiency difference. But the sound is what I was after and I got it. Absolutely love the sound of the muffler and glad I didn't go with the 18 that I was favoring at the time.
