When can I run synthetic oil in my 2012 Ram Hemi

I have a 2012 Ram 4x4 5.7 Hemi. I purchased the truck in Aug. 2012, I now have 5300 miles on it....I want to run synthetic motor oil in it ASAP. i asked the Service Mgr. at the dealership where I bought the truck about synthetic oil....he told me I couldn't run synthetic with less than 10,000 miles due to break-in. He told me "it's a warranty issue".....I can find nothing in my owners handbook, nor in the on-line owners manual about such a restriction.....Maybe the Service Mgr. just dislikes synthetic oils?

I went with synthetic at 1000 miles and have never looked back. I've done that with my last seven vehicles and never had issues.....

Thanks,

My dealer kinda hesitated when i asked about Synthetic, so I just changed it myself at 3000. I would think they would like us to run synthetic due to the higher cost and markups. Just my two cents.
He wasnt against it just not pushing it.

2012 Express HEMI 4x4 Synthetic at 3000.

I switched the Power Wagon to synthetic at 500 miles. The Durango had 4900 miles on it when we bought it and switched it to synthetic right away. Both still running strong. The Power Wagon still does not use any noticeable oil on a 5000 mile oil service schedule. That is with many miles running 4000 to 4600 RPMs while towing our fifth wheel.

Do it now!

I dropped Mobile 1 in my truck when the oil change indicator came on (2500 KM), and I haven't had any issues.

Motors anymore are broken in at the factory. If I didn't have the next 6 oil changes for free I would have changed the oil over to synthetic with the first oil change. However, Since the dealership is footing the bill for the next couple years, it'll be at least that long before I change over.

One thing I miss about synthetic though, It gained me about 1.5mpg in my 2005 ram. And this 2012 is a bit of a gas hog compared to my 05 so I can use every mpg I can get.

I put Amsoil in mine at 1100 miles and have 8300+ on it now. I will be changing it soon. Eventually I will switch all my running gear to Amsoil products as they need changing. The first will be the rear differential as it will need more additive around 15000 miles. I might just do the front diff as well. Tranny will be done around 20000 miles since it has synthetic in it now. Mine is a 2012 "Big Horn" QC 4x4 with the Hemi.
