Newest van with mechanical speedometer?

What is the newest year model Dodge van that has a mechanical speedometer?

I am wondering also if the newer clusters light up better than one I have does. I put in LED bulbs which helped considerably, but it's still poorly lit and hard to see at night.

So I am wondering... what is the newest year model cluster that will fit my 78 B300 and are they better made for seeing at night?

My '89 has a speedo cable.

I think starting in '90 they went electronic.

On rock auto, look up the vehicle speed sensors and see if they have a cable input and output, or just input.

Hmmm. RockAuto doesn't even show a speed sensor on the 78.

It appears they started putting speed senors on 1984 models.... or at least Rockauto sells none for the B300/B350 until the 1984 model. 1983 and under, they have none in the store.

Isn't the speed sensor for ABS? Mine lacks ABS. Must be they started putting it on the vans in 84.

My speed sensor is apparently only for the overdrive and lock up torque converter.

So I guess 83 and under is what it would be. Probably not worth trying to change out. Oh well.

The overdrive transmission I installed in mine came from a 96 and had a cable driven speedometer.

I just wonder if they changed the calibration on later ones since they were designed a bit differently.

Also... is there a thread here about how to change the dummy oil light to an actual gauge? Is there much involved?
