I have a 2006 2500 quad cab that I want to put 35s or perhaps 37s on. I will either level it or lift it 4.5 inches so I am not worried about tire clearance. I am looking for input on how well the factory 3.73 gears work with the larger tires. I am sure running the 35s will make the truck feel a bit more sluggish but wouldn't expect anything too drastic where it would be disappointing. Can anyone comment on what they think about 35s or 37s with factory 3.73 gears?

I have 35" tires on my 04 Ram 2500 Hemi and 3.73 gears and while it's not great it's not all that bad either. I just can't make myself drop the money on 4.56 gears on a 7 year old truck (even though it has right at 58,000 miles on it). The trick is when climbing hills on the interstate to push the tow/haul mode- that seems to help a ton.

With 37's it'll be a slug and really be a lot on your tranny. My truck had the 4.10's and with 33's it was a nice match. For 35's or bigger I'd definitely invest in 4.56's.

I have ran 3.73's with 40's for a while! It was a little sluggish and did not help my OD at all! My bad for not turning the OD off like I should have. However I just went to 4.56's and it is a MAJOR improvement! 37's with 4.56's would be highly recommended however 35's I wouldn't worry about it. Just my .02!!!!

for those extra 2" tires (37") you'll be paying a lot. Gears and also control arms etc..

At the moment I am leaning towards the 35s with stock 3:73 gearing.
Thanks for the input guys. Funny, all the posts here about larger tires, what fits, what doesn't etc. and yet not much talk about how they work with stock gearing.

I have 35s on mine with 3.73 gears. No lift, no spacers, no rubbing. Mine's a 5.9 Cummins, so the power loss is not nearly as noticable as with a gasser. Dropped about 1.5mpg highway. Smarty Jr on low (30hp gain) brought it right back to where you can't tell the difference at all and the mileage came back to where it was before. I VERY rarely drive in city, so I haven't seen the difference there.
