First off my brother turned me on to this site and said its been great.

Well I just bought a 2000 Durango slt 4.9 and the open gate light on the dash wont go out. Knew it when I bought it.
The story is the car alarm was sensitive (They said it would lock the doors with in 8 seconds of closing the door and locked the keys in multiple times.)

When it was towed to an impound lot the alarm wouldn't stop going off and the tow yard did something to the alarm and now it doesn't work and the light on the dash won't go out plus I don't have the fob/key-less remote.

I have looked for the plunger on the gate door area, that turns off the over head light on the back gate and can't find it. but light does turn off.

Any Ideas or Should I just take it to a shop that does alarms

Thanks
Jon

#1, if the car was towed to the impound lot, and they MESSED with your car, they are LIABLE for that. they cannot F*** with your car. if it's honking, they have to deal with it. they cannot in any way alter anything in your car.

On an update,,.... Sunday I did an oil change and coolant flush and checked all the fuses and relays. I pulled all the fuses and check to see if any were blown or had any corrosion. None of them had either. After I did so I turned on the truck to get the thermostat to open and oil pressure up, and realized that the "gate open" light was off no idea what I did but an happy.

And am going to take it to the shop and have a new alarm and key-less entry installed. They said it would be easier than a guess and check.

You reseated your power door lock fuse. If you pull that fuse out you will see the gate open light come on.
