P1685 and P0700 codes

I really need help with this. Check engine light came on last week . Van runs fine shifts fine. Checked the codes using the key. P1685 and P0700. Talked to auto zone was told that to reset the codes by unhooking battery for 10 min then reconnect light went out drove around light came back on. I checked the codes I know p1685 is Invalid key recieved from the SmartKey immobilizer module. That makes no sense to me. And P0700 is Transmission Control System Malfunction. But like I said van runs great.

I can only offer this; P0700 is a generic code stored by the PCM to let you know that there are more transmission fault codes stored in the TCM. (transmission control module) You'll need to find a scanner that will access the TCM for transmission specific DTCs.

Update

Well here is my update. Went to autozone again rented a scanner for $150.00 which I got back as soon as I was done. Well Now the scanner is giving me P0700 and p0740. So I was told it could be low fluid, bad fluid, bad torque converter. Or bad censers-- input or output or bad solenoid. So as of now I'm gonna take it to the shop and see what they say. I will post their findings. I am bond and determined to find the problem....

Here's a more specific description of your DTC:
P0740 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Malfunction

I found that and many more here:
http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/

Just scroll down for the universal DTC codes or stay at the top of the page and click your make and model for the manufacturer specific DTC codes. Good luck.

P0740 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Malfunction

Well here is the final update. Replaced solenoid pack, output sensor, input sensor still had the same problem. Toke the van to a trans shop my cousin works at and was told the torque converter had to be replaced. Had them do the work replaced the torque converter and they had to bore out and replace the shift valve . Final cost $1232.00 van runs great.
