2005 dodge ram 4x4 running hot

i need some help guys i am new to this site so if this is already on here i'm sorry in advance i have a 2005 ram with the 4.7 and i can't get it to stop running hot on me i have changed the water pump, theromostat, fan clutch, new fluid i am stuck any suggestions the truck usually only gets hot running down the road or in stop and go traffic sitting still it does fine

i had the same problem at one point, actually ended up being a plugged radiator that wouldn't unplug doing flush after flush. Changed the radiator and all was good with the universe.

06 mega cab dually cummins. 7" flipout monitor, ranch hand grill guard. 265/70/17 falken rocky mountain ats's.

since you have fixed it where does the gauge usually stay at i have only had this truck about a month now and it hasent been right since i bought it and i dont really know what normal is for this truck mine right now runs about 3 to four tick marks past half way sometimes lower and what kind of cost did you run into with the new radiator

i work at a carquest parts store in colorado. a new radiator for you truck is $183.99 from us for a brand spankin' new spectra brand. hope that will get you in the ball park

mine sits below halfway by a few clicks and i am running a stock t-stat right now. my guage stays there no matter how hard i romp on it.

mine has never gotten to the last big mark before red i seem to catch it before it gets to hot no dummy lights have ever come on i have checked the oil no signs of coolant in the oil or anything like that i am going to try a new radiator cap today if no luck i guess i will change the rad. out if this doesnt fix it i guess to the shop it goes i purged the air out of the system would it be wise to maybe try that one more time

also so i just wanted to mention i live in north centeral alabama and we are already having about 85 to 90 degree temps. outside i dont know how much this would effect this just wanted to throw it out there and the t-stat is a 195

I think the CHECK GAUGE does not come on until the coolant temp is 252F. Got that on mine the day after putting in my e-fan. Turned out to be a air pocket.

I ran mine like this for quite awhile before i got it figured out and i have no warped heads or blown gaskets.

My last 3 Dodge trucks all ran about a tick below the halfway mark. It's an 05, replace the radiator. It's cheap insurance. Redline Water Wetter also works, but not on a plugged radiator. It helps the fluid absorb & dissapate heat faster by reducing the surface tension of the water.

i had this probelm last week and found out it that my radiator was pluged and replace it along with a new fan clutch and thermostat and now it stays in the middle or below.

2013 ram 1500 "black express edition" stock for now

well i replaced the radiator cap saturday as a last ditch effort just to see if it would work and so far so good it hasnt got above half way but temps have been a bit cooler outside so i guess i will have to wait and see when it warms up outside what it is going to do but thanks for all the help on this guys i have found this web site really helpful
