How many quarts of oil does a 2002 Dodge Ram 5.9L take? My dad thinks 5 but I know for many facts that other vehicles that have lets say a 4.6L and take 6 1/2 quarts. So does the 02 ram 5.9l take 6 quarts or 6 1/2 quarts?

i'm pretty sure Rye was chiming in to say he "concurs" or agrees, supporting that it is the confirmed 5 qts

i'm jealous of 5 qts, that'd save me almost 20 bucks on a RP oil change!

5qt is child's play =)
Find it funny tho my 03 4.7l took 6qt

Look around and you will find the manual for your truck with all the right oil levels and types.
