Mind me asking where you heard Rancho's giving people trouble? Do you mean after the shocks are worn in 5,000 miles or more and they start giving people trouble?

i also would like to know about these shocks. I hear good things from people but it doesnt sound like anyone saying the good things is even running them.

im sitting here thinking i bought my skyjacker lift kit used it came with shocks. Im not particularly happy with the hydros. I had nitros on my truck before and thought they were way to stiff, but how does a shock really make your ride that stiff? All the downward pressure of a bump is taken by the coil spring. How can the rebound be that stiff?

I dunno but i know some guys that have f250's and 350's which are known for a horribly stiff ride, they all run edelbrock shocks and swear by them. At a 100 bucks a piece they should be though

I run KYB shocks in my 2004, I just put them in about a week or so ago. They ride nice, the truck feels planted well and I have no complaints so far. Mine aren't the ones posted but are a Max Ride or Ride adjust or whatever. Supposedly they have a valve to adjust the stiffness of the shock depending on what you are going over like the Edlebrocks.

You have it kind of backwards. When you go over a bump it forces your tire upwards compressing your spring, the force of it going up is controlled by your shocks otherwise it would just bounce around. Different shocks control it differently resulting in a smoother ride or stiffer ride.

Some shocks don't only go up and down, they also slap front to rear on their cheesy under sized rubber mounts. I can see about a 1/4" of air at the front lower mount. I can't see buying those again. They're raunchy.

i got edelbrock IAS all around and love them smooth when ya want them to be and stiff when you need them to be. also got 20% off them though so that helped when i bought them when they were about $110 a piece. Gonna order some 2.5" lift progressive coils at some point to help out the ride some more.

Good thread. I'm getting new shocks when I get back. I was going bilsteins, but if there's a better shock out there, I'll get those.

Yeah I'm going with Bilsteins sometime before the summer. They came stock on my dads old 06' tacoma and he went off roading a **it load of times and I never heard one squeak from the suspension. Let alone the fact that when he went over speed bumps and up curbs it was really nice. And another fact that everyone says Bilsteins are worth the money.

The place to check for shock prices is www.shockwarehouse.com They are a vendor here at DodgeTalk and I think they also give a discount to DodgeTalk members.

I put a set of Monroe Reflex shocks on mine. They seem good so far. Rock Auto has them for around $10 cheaper per shock than that shock warehouse place lists them. There is also a buy 3 get 1 free promotion going on with the Monroe shocks.
