linkage from transfer case to floor shifter

Last friday we got about 2.5 in of snow And I got the income refund back, My wife and I went shopping for a LCD TV. Went to Walmart dropped her off at the door and I wanted to have alittle fun on the back 40, so I spun it around and went to park my truck. I tried to take it out 4hi and the shifter went straight up Looked under the truck and the linkage from the transfer case and the floor shifter is gone. The STEALERSHIP wanted 50 bucks. what the heck. I bought the bushings and I'm going to make my own. Sorry for the rant but DANNNNNNG IT. Has this happened to anyone esle? I haven't read anything about it before. I'm not upset that the part fell off just the stealership wanted way to much for a simple part like that. I got a 46in LCD 1080p 240Hz for 700 bucks

I had the same thing happen this past Sunday evening. I had changed the differential fluids and went for a quick drive to make sure everthing was ok. Since I hadn't used the four wheel drive in awhile decided I needed to engage it. Had no problem until I was almost home and decided to engage it one more time and the handle just moved freely. I didn't loose the connector rod, it just came out on one end. The rubber grommet is falling apart, but popped it into place and put some wire around it to hold it in place until I can pick up new grommets.
