Rear axle seal replacement??

How do I get the axle out of my truck '97 1500?? I have limited slip rear end and there's a brass clip inside diff housing that looks like it's holding it in. Doesn't look like there's a lot of room to somehow get it apart although I'm sure it can be done. In addition are the gears/clutches in the limited slip going to fall apart if I pull out axle? I have the brake off and the diff cover off. Please tell me everything I need to know.

Thanks in advance

Here are some pictures to show you what is needed to remove the axles. (You don't have to remove the rear diff.) The first picture shows you the bolt to remove so that you can slide the cross pin out. The second picture shows the pin slid partially out. Once you slide the pin out push the axle in towards the diff. then take a small magnet and remove the C-clip and pull the axle shaft out.

This is the write up I pirated the pictures from. -Thanks 95_318SLT.

Here is a picture of the axle pushed in and the C-clip removed. The C-clip goes in the grove on the axle (the right axle in the picture). *Don't spin the spider gears like these in the picture. If you don't turn the axles with the cross pin removed the spiders should stay in place.

Thank you very much. I actually got some some info from a axle guy via my Napa store before you posted so the axle is now out and i'm on to removing and replacing a wheel bearing that suffered some collateral damage when I was taking out the leaking seal. Should be a runner today
