whats the difference between a 1500 and 2500/3500 front and rear bumper??

i was looking at a ranch hand or similar front and rear bumper. i have a 04 1500, and the bumpers say they only work on a 2500/3500 truck. does anyone know the difference between the mounting on the truck?

The rear bumpers on all 3rd Gen Rams are interchangeable. I'm not 100% sure there aren't some mounting differences on the fronts depending on the year.

the bumper brackets are the only difference (from what I've read in a few recent posts about bumper swaps)

Here's a picture of the brackets for the 2500/3500 front bumper. There are some different hole placements from the 1500, even though they're the same basic shape.

Don't mind the "m style" tow hooks.

hmmm tryin to figure out some mounting similarities between the 1500 and 2500/3500.

i see alot of folks have put the 2500 hooks on the 1500 but had to drill holes for the reinforcement brackets. does somebody know or could they measure the hole spacing of the 2 bolts (the ones attached to that ugly flat bracket tying them together) that go horizontally through through the bracket and frame rail. also could you tell me how far back it is from the inside edge of the front of the bumper bracket, basically measure from the center of the bolt forward on the truck. i need the measurements from a 2500 or 3500 please. i will then measure my 1500 as i'm trying to see if i could make the power wagon winch mount fit in a 1500 as i just got a nice warn m10,000 and it mounts just like the ones dodge uses in the power wagon, it doesnt fit the hidden mount warn makes because it is too large. so i figure if the power wagon mount would be fittable then i'd just go that route its about the same money as the warn hidden kit and it would save me having to get something fabricated.

thanks in advance.

dont suppose anyone has an early 3rd gen 2500 or 3500 or hell has a power wagon that lives on long island and would be willing to meet up so i could measure it and go back and forth between the 2 trucks?

I know on a 06+ 1500 the bumper bracket is welded to the frame.

Seen here (on my 2500) those big square brackets are welded on with a 1500..

but not on my 2008 2500..

Ive learned this all the hard way

-02-05 1500 have a one piece bracket that mounts directly to the frame. AKA two bolts on each side and your bumper is off

-06 + are a bracket and then a frame horn as in the pic above ( although that is a 2500 )

-All 2500/ 3500 have the same bracket which doesnt interchange with the above

The bumpers all interchange if you have the right bracket.

no diff in the rear bumper. i have a 2500/3500 heavy duty bumper and it mounted no problem. I have a 2500/3500 front bumper but it only works with the body lift brackets and i still had to modify it a bit.

any chance someone can snap some pics of where the mounting brackets attach to the frame and can measure it up for me?

i'm not opposed to drilling extra holes through the frame and reinforcing them properly
