what companies make actual replaceable, repackable wheel bearings for the 4x4 2500 instead of replacing the costly unit bearing

Check Dynatrac. I know they have a replacement hub option so they may have a replacement bearing available

If you are planning on staying with the OEM hub bearing assembly type setup there is no such critter as being repackable/serviceable. You will need to go with one of the hub conversion kits from Dynatrac, EMS Offroad or I believe there are a couple other companies making kits now as well.

i was watching Xtreme 4x4 and i know the guy only had a 1500, but the bearings upfront needed to be replaced and he replaced it with bearing what were serviceable and did not call for the whole hub assembly to be replaced. is that what the dynatrac does?

Are your hubs shot and have lots of play or are they just dry? You can either pop them apart (yes, you can even though they say they aren't serviceable) or you can add a zerk to the hub assembly casing and lube them up. I actually did this today to mine and did a quick write up...

That was a whole hub conversion just like the Dynatrac setup. All of the kits require you to replace the unit bearing with a new spindle, hub, outer axle shaft, and locking hub.

Nothing else is technically "needed" but it would be a good time to do new front axle u-joints since you have to press them out and in to the new outer axle shafts. Ball joints would be another good thing to do at that time.
