Code P0406 (EGR Sensor A High)...false code???

All,
Took the Durango for a spin yesterday afternoon and got a MIL...did the key on/off trick and came up with code P0406 (EGR sensor 'A' high). I see that this is a common code on our trucks (and Ram trucks for that matter) and that most have ended up changing the EGR. From what I can tell, this code often appears at 70-80k miles, but mine only has 45k!?! A Google search for "2006 Dodge Durango TSB" shows that a TSB was issued for this problem, and I've heard that the code is false...caused by a glitch in the PCM software and that I'll need a reflash. TSB # is 1802707. I've had the truck 9 days now and since its a Chrysler certified pre-owned, I don't think I'll have any problems getting it fixed...I'm just curious if this is a real EGR malfunction or if its the PCM acting up. All help is greatly appreciated! |

Here's my write up on the EGR Valve and Throttle Body Cleaning....
Mine popped a P0406 code when I was around 50k miles which was less than two months after I bought it.

They didn't charge me anything and my receipt doesn't show a price for labor or the part.

Just wondering, do you have an "aftermarket" warranty or was it covered by the powertrain warranty?
