Got 2 problems here.. I have a 1997 dodge ram 1500 and cruise control won't work, light comes on but it won't set....another problem is my automatic windows, I can't role the passenger side window down from the driver side anymore...if you could help with these problems that would be great! Thank you

The first thing I would check is to see if you have a vaccuum problem since our cruise control runs off of vaccuum, see if your truck will go into 4wd...not just the light coming on, but actually gooing into 4wd....if not then I would say it is a vaccuum issue. As for the p/s window, maybe a bad wire or switch, try using a test lamp on the switch and wire on the d/s.

HVAC, 4X4 and cruise share a vac system. If 4x4 light comes on CAD "should" be at least 80% ENGAGED. Plastic vac lines under hood may leak anywhere, often line for cruise by batt box or by source(middle of mani, pass side). HVAC going too defrost on its own is a sign of vac/checkvalve problems. Theres a vac resevoir under cowl, pass side.

Did and fixed both the heater and cruise work because one hose fell off on back on intake.

Geez elliot, thought an oldtime 2Ger like you would have crossed that bridge years ago, lol. But I hear ya, trans issues seem to eat up a lot of time(15 mo autotragic plague also). Anyway, big thanks to DT and Jmw13201 ??? for that sticky; saved me cash and headaches.

My VAC lines for 4 wheel are fine just fixed those actually. Could someone give me a diagram on what vaccume lines I should check for cruise

I just have never had any problems with big green and heater actually that truck has been perfect never broke down or failed to start 85,000. It is just the 96 V10 247,000 that has started to give me problems maybe time to put her down.

The vacuum lines come out of the firewall on passenger side and plug into two little plastic pieces. You will see them they look like it is spliced together start with those and try to blow through the little valves and see if air goes through.

Follow vac lines from cruise, its under batt box. ... Check out, "goes to defrost *FIXED*"; its the first thread in 2G general talk, or top thread on this page. It may have a pic for ya, and will help with leaks and checkvalves. ... A vac pump/tester might be real handy.

That sticky is a "MUST READ' for 2G owners. Stealers, shops, etc told me it was computer(NON refundable electric part); my minor "goes to defrost" issue(on big hills or during HARD prolonged accel) was caused by a weak checkvalve(5 bucks) and wee tiny crack by batt box.

i have that same problem but my vaccum line is dissconected on top of the tranny and i dont know where it goes 2 go to the axle 1 goes to the ac lines and i cant find where this one goes anyone know???

i have the same problem the cruise control doesnt work i found 1 of the lines on the t case disconnected on top of the tranny cant find where it goes anyone know???
