Just scored a '78 Power Wagon and was wondering how many other Power Wagon guys (or gals) are members of this board.
I have not picked mine up yet so I don't have any pixs. Bought it from the original owner, has 87K original miles.
He wanted to unbolt the butt ugly home made grill guard and the antique wench from the front and I told him to have at it.
Will post some pix soon.

HI DR
I think you will like it. I had a 78 Power Wagon for 13 years. I wish I had it back although I really like the 02 diesel.
The PW had a 360, tilt, air, black buckets, and white spoke wheels. It was Maroon and black, it is on the front of many brochures. I drove for 85k miles with 0 problems.
The full time 4x4 is the best part. if you drive on ice in the winter you won't even know when you hit ice , unlike the new ones.
Good luck to you and enjoy
Paul

Brought the disk home, here is the one's that I picked. I've been driving it every day since I tagged it, now I have to figure out how to keep people from asking if I want to sell it!

I currently own a 1976 millitary Power Wagon full-time four wheel drive ,4:10 gears . I put a 4-speed with granny 1st and reverse and power steering on it. I drive it every day ( despite its 8 mpg). It is a very tough and reliable truck. Ive often hauled as much as 2 1/2 tons of coal on it and the leaf springs are still flat ( not bent upside down) lets see a brand x 3/4 ton do that!!!. The millitary rated these trucks (m880) at a ton and a quarter (why?).The only complaint I have is the front wheel bearing set-up.

I just helped my son change out the upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends, and do a 3" body lift on his 74 power wagon. It's not mine, but its in the family, and has been for about 12 yrs.

Here is my 79 Powerwagons

I was offered the truck below for $400. It belonged to a church. It has original, documented 25k miles. Factory installed plow unit. Someone had started to restore this truck, they re-did the whole frame. The frame was painted, new shocks installed and brakes. Then a bonus, a new lock out hub assembly installed and front disc brakes. The interior is mint. No rust other then surface rust where they started to sand the sheet metal. Then someone came along and vandalized it, kicked in the driver side door and fender. Smashed all the glass. The owner got frustrated and sold it to me.

Noticed the two different grills for the 79's?

So far I have replaced all the glass except the windshield which I am picking up tomorrow. I got the glass from a 78 club cab a friend gave me to part out.

Pulled a 340 out of ours (someone had put in it... gonna use it on another project though), and put in a 360 we rebuilt. After the boy drowned it at the river, we are now going to put in Magnum 5.9 (I'm sure we will mod it up a bit lol) and all of the computer controls, can't beat the fuel injection for off-roading, no more carb problems.
