im about to change the thermostat on my 2002 4.7, ive been looking online for help, Ive come across the 2 locations online, on the upper radiator hose and the lower radiator hose, which one is it for a 2002 4.7 ram 1500? thanks

My 03 4.7 is in the lower.

yeah i kind-of thought so but was just doing a goggle search and was getting all kinds of answers, ALSO I was wondering the thermostat has a seal, but do i need to get one of those Sealnt in a tube for the housing?

Do i need some of this for the thermostat housing i asked the guy @ the parts store but i think he though i was talking about the seal on the actual thermostat which it already comes with a seal

Thermostat is at the bottom of rad hose going to engine block. So, thermstat is inside between the hose and engine block. My 2004 dodge ram 4.7 is where location.

Also, make sure you put new themostat back in right place. Not backward other wise over heat or have to flush it out again and open it up and put in right place.

Oh an also do i need to disconnect the hose? Thought it looked like i could just remove bolts with the hose on.

Yes. I'm sure you already flush the rad with Radiator Drain Plug before disconnected hose. Yeah. I left it on with hose and just unscrew two bolts and pull the thermostat housing. Should come off after unscrew the two bolts then you will see the thermostat sit in and just pull it out. You will see rubber ring on the thermostat too. New Thermostat should come with new rubber ring on it too.
