Po406?

has anybody had this code come up? what is the code? i checked it this morning when i went out to crank the d up. do you think this might be what is causing some of the problems i am having with it? like hesitation, running rough sometimes. need help thanks.

Definatly EGR. Those are the same symtoms that I had before I replaced mine. It was expensive, $250 including labor. I would've done it myself except that the dealer would charge $70 if I left without them doing it, and it's on the back of the engine block.

for sure it is on the back of the block? i read somewhere on here that the 4.7 was on the back of the engine block and the hemi is up front. i looked to day and i think it is on the front. i am going to clean the throttle body, replace the pcv, this weekend and change the egr if it is where i think it is. thanks durango+kj. so yours was having the same issues mine has? it will hesitate when you try to take off slowly, and run a little rough at when you are cruising at slower speed? i can reset the pcm and it will take care of it for a few weeks and then it comes back.

On the Hemi it is straight forward on the passenger side in front of the cylinder head.

2 bolts and a clip if I remember corectly + a connector.

yeah i will post some pics. as soon as i get the time to pic up the parts i am going to do it. hey sca, do you think the problems that i am having is the egr? or do i need to look somewhere else after i replace the egr? when i do the egr i am going to clean the tb and replace the pcv.

What I heared is that the EGR doesn't do chit but could it cause problems if it doesn't work properly? Not really sure, the code you have indicates the problem, I would replace it and try if you still have the issues clean your TB. I lean more towards the TB but that doesn't clear your EGR code.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but this install shouldn't take more than 30-45 minutes right? Doesn't seem to be too difficult anyways.

Hey Lagnaf, I had a similar code (I think mine was P0404; but there are at least 4 codes related to the EGR, upper circuit and lower circuit and hi voltage and low voltage for each).
The thin is mine had NO TROUBLE AT ALL, except for the check engine light on all the time. I didn't had the code for longer than 3 weeks/1500 miles aprox. but it was not related to anything I can think of, except for one time the engine just stalled on a stop light, but I don't know if it was related.
So, I think you should check some other things if you have rough engine run at low speeds, pcv and Throttle body cleaning should help discarding from the easiest to the more complicated. Check how old your spark plugs are, maybe wires, what gasoline have you been using, etc... if you are nopt having engine lights it probably is something simple.

well i just had the plugs changed about 2500k ago. so i dont think it would be the plugs. the funny thing is that i can reset the pcm and the problems stop. then a few weeks later it comes back and this code keeps coming up when the problems start. so i think it might be the egr.
