I have a 01 sport with the 5.9. The muffler cracked and now the truck wants to sputter at low (1000-1500) rpm. if you get after it it is fine and then cruising speed with OD off, it is fine.

Could the bad muffler be causing this? It just cracked because it wasn't doing it yesterday and I can here the exhaust gas escaping at the muffler now.

Any thoughts on this would be hugely appreciated.

It's very possible. An exhaust leak is never good and if it started sputtering and you noticed the crack then I would suppose that is your issue.

Time to get a new muffler bud!

Maybe a good excuse to get a Flowmaster or something!
