Im havin the same trouble. I got a new hi-flow Cat about a month ago and about 2 weeks after I got it that code "P0420" caused my Check Engine Light to come on. So in hopes that the computer just needed to "relearn" the change, I reset the computer. It went about a week and a half and the light came back on. So for the last two days Ive been trying to get the right O2 sensors here to replace. I just dont know which sensor it is. I had a local shop put a diagnostic tool up there and it gave me the same thing yours did MeenGreen5.2 (catalyst efficiency low-bank 1). Can anyone help us out with this.

Although its not on my dodge, I am having the same exact issue!

Its my 97 Honda Prelude. When I got the car, some punk had unstalled a gutted cat (had a perma check engine light)

I ordered a high flow cat and replaced. Sure enough, a couple weeks later, the CEL came back.

I carry a code checker/clearer everywhere I go now so I can kill this CEL when it shows up.

My theory is due to the High-flo quality, the cat isnt filtering enough of the hydrocarbons which causes the #2 O2 sensor to endure out of spec exhaust triggering the CEL.

This has been occuring for about the past 5 months and I have yet to see a pattern. I've ran in really hot weather... really cold weather... and my CEL P0420 will trigger completely at random... (hot weather in cold engine and warmed engine and cold weather with cold engine and warm engine). Seems to make no difference.

I already have replaced both of my 02 sensors prior to this (thats when I found the cat was hollowed out) so I suspect them to be good.

I am considering getting a stock cat, but its just so freakin' expensive. ($400).

Good luck! If anyone finds the real cause please post back!

Thx

your other option is as long as you don't have to go through a vehicle inspection, is to get an o2 simulator, it plugs into your o2 plug, but you will need to leave the factory sensor or replace the sensor with a bung plug.

That's funny. I just found this anti-fouler trick out on a couple of other forums yesterday. I just checked back so I could share.

I bought some anti-foulers yesterday. I plan on rigging them in tomorrow.
