If the engine is not missing and you are experiencing just an rpm fluctuation, I would check the TPS. With the engine at idle, lightly tap on the TPS with the handle of a screwdriver. If the idle rpm changes when you tap, then most likely the TPS is dirty internally and needs to be replaced. Ideally the best way to check this is while a DVOM is attached but usually these are bad enough that you will be able to hear the RPM change.

There are many other possible reasons also though.

TPS cured the idling problem for me a couple years ago. My case was that I let it go for so long (half a year), to the point when I had cruise on one afternoon, the transmission was shifting down to third - going downhill! Another cause could be a dirty IAC (Idle Air Controller), located on the back of the throttle body.

qtip is correct as well, if you haven't changed the plugs in the last 30K or so it's time to change them out. Copper plugs are only good for about 25-30K unless you know your running long life plugs.

It did. I notice about 1mpg or a little more increase. SC is the only programmer available for the 4.7 that is any good. The JET performance one will eventually be bypassed by the computer (From what I have heard). I will be going a step colder on my plugs here soon and I will bump the superchips program to the 91 octane setting for even better performance and we will see if mileage is helped further with the combo of the new plugs as well as the higher performance setting. But lets be real here, I didn't get the SC for the mileage increase

Just wanted to confirm the TPS check that others mentioned. Mine did the same thing, fluctuating RPM's while driving or idling, and then to the point of actually not allowing me to go faster than 50MPH JUST BEFORE entering the desert on my San Diego - Denver trip. Boy was I lucky it happened before entering no-mans-land. Anyway, there was an autozone where I pulled off the freeway at 11PM, so I just waited 7 hours until the manager got in who sold me the last TPS they had. $40 later and I was on the road again, returning safely a week later.

Throttle Position Sensor. It's what recognises how much throttle you're currently giving, based on the position of the throttle body.
