engine serial numbers

does anyone know how to decode engine serial numbers to find the year of the motor i did a search and came up with nothing my block has the numbers 53006714 318 27 i need to know the year of the motor if anyone can help thanks

97 ram 2500
12v cummins
auto trans
and hummer wheels

Are those numbers stamped on the machine pad on the front left corner of the cylinder block? Should be stamped right below the cylinder head if your looking at the front of the engine it will be on the right, just below the head. Might have to use sand paper to see it. Hope this helps you. Think the ones you gave are casting#'s on the side of the block? Whole nother ball game?

M= Plant-M= Mound Rd.
S= Saltillo
T= Trenton
K= Toluca
AAA= Engine Displacement (CID)
YYYY= Month/Day
OOOO= Engine Serial Code
