My 2001 Caravan's engine light is on in the Information Console. I have searched for the method to display the error code on the trip/odometer (and I DID find this once before) but what I am finding online does not seem to apply to my van since I only have the trip reset switch. Would anyone have the method I need to read these codes for my van's year?

Autozone, Advance Auto, Murrays, Napa all should have code readers and test for free.

Thanks for trying, but I live in a remote area and do not have access to the above. There IS a way to do this, I found it before, but this time round I'm just not finding the right method :-(

From alldata

OBTAINING DTC'S USING IGNITION KEY

Cycle the ignition key ON - OFF - ON - OFF - ON within 5 seconds .
The odometer will show the P-code for the DTC code number. Refer to the DTC chart for a detailed explanation of the DTC codes.
If no DTC's are present, the cluster will display one of two texts: "P1684" and "done" or only "done".
"P1684" is only a status and indicates that the PCM memory has been cleared within the last 50 ignition cycles and does not indicate a problem.
"done" indicates that NO DTCs are present and the procedure is complete.

the 1684 is no problem

0455
POSSIBLE CAUSES

* Intermittent LDP monitor failure

How can I reset the codes and get the engine light to go out without taking it to the dealer to have it done?

My understanding is that if the evap system passes the test procedure 3 consecutive times, the code will reset on its own. If it isn't resetting, you haven't fixed the problem.

The dealer replaced the leak detection pump and purge solenoid on my 2001 Grand Caravan 3.3 and the light came back on the very next day.

I already have over $300 into the first set of repairs. What should I check for next? I'm getting codes P0300 and P0455 and the van runs very rough and almost sounds like it has an exhaust leak but I've looked at the exhaust and there aren't any apparent defects.

The forum has a search function you can use to search your code and the term "evap leak" and you'll find lots of threads on this.

Should the odo display the code even on a 96, or should I have to read the CEL blinks?
