P0725 Cel Code

Can anyone walk me thru replacing an ENGINE SPEED SENSOR? NAPA doesn't carry them and I'm not finding anything in my Haynes manual. Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, it's your crankshaft position sensor that may need replacing. About $25 on rockauto.com. Call your local dodge dealership service department though and they're usually very helpful. Just tell them your code, ask what it could be and if replacing the crankshaft position sensor should fix it.

Just called the dealership for you, the guy said it could be simply that the cam or crankshaft sensor is going bad (depending on how many mileage. I told him 106,000 which is mine, he said that could be it) or something could be knocking around or out of alignment. But more often then not it's the sensor not putting out the right amount of ohms. So there ya go, you can probably take it to Big O Tires and Service Center and get it electrically tested (the whole vehicle) for $45 to see if it's the sensor, or take it to the dealership for a full diagnostic which they usually charge about $100 I believe.

I appreciate that, now check this out. The scanner code was P0725 ENGINE SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION, but the guy at the parts store said that didn't make sense. He said to pull the IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE, clean it with throttle body cleaner and reinstall. Did that and it ran perfect and the CEL went off after a little bit of driving. Total cost .50 worth of a can of cleaner and 30 min. max time

Cleaning the IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE worked for a day but now the cel is back on and it's acting up again( not wanting to start and when it doe's it won't idle properly and stall out). I hate to start installing parts blindly. Any thoughts?

I'm going out to get a crankshaft sensor, I'll reply later as to weather it worked or not, keeping my fingers crossed.
