i have a 87 d150 318 and wanted to know what all size transmission will work in it, and what would be the best for pulling??? can any one help?

2x4 automatic
5.2/318 edelbrock performer 4 barrel intake and carb.
15in American Racing Rims.
31/10.5 bfg a/t tires.
Duel (no cats)straightpipe exhaust 40Series flowmasters
2 10in L5 kicker Solar Baric with 600wat MTX amp.
pioneer speakers all around and pioneer deck.
Fresh paint job with flame pinstripe.

NEW!!!!.
1987 power ram 50.
2.6 Inline 4 cylinder.
4x4, 5 speed
no cats with cherrybomb. sounds like a ricer!
more mods to come.

If it's auto, you'll want a 727 for pulling.

I agree with Speed Dragon, can't beat a 727 trany for this.

i was told today that the 727 would not fit in my truck.. that was by the local transmission shop

Its what my and MANY other 318 trucks came with... how can it not fit?

nope theres a 904 in there now.... and yes the local shop said it would not fit...dont ask me thats what they said.

Find a different trans shop! 727 and 904 are NOT that much different. It's not like you're trying to stuff a 6 spd Allison trans in there or something.

+1 to finding a new shop, any tranny shop that says a 727 won't fit in a Dodge truck needs to be given a wiiiiiiiide berth.
