only one plug fires on compresion stroke, on the other side of motor at the same time a plug is fireing on the exhuast stroke for beter emisions, totaly useless. when i have the money iam going with the 6.1 coil pack so both plugs fire on compresion stroke at the same time.

It's the only way they could get the Hemis to pass emisions, and they just barely pass at that.

Also I've never been a big fan of the +4 plugs. All those electrodes kinda hide the spark and in many vehicles there is actually a loss in HP when you use them. In my VW they ran so bad they'd throw codes and cause the engine to stumble and hesitate. You should try to get some feed back on how they run in these trucks before you drop them in.

I don't understand the split fire and +4 plugs. Your only gonna get one spark, it will take the path of least resistance.

I always wondered what that was all about, kinda sucks.... thought it seemed odd the way to was wired but didn't think about emissions...

Anything else have to be replaced to use the 6.1 coil pack other then the wires? Seems like a good thing to do...

search threads,, says shorty wiers adds stress to stock coil and can loose a couple of horse's... go with coil pack upgrade for best performance gain.

Why would it add stress to the coil? It is firing two at the same time all the time, so where is the stress if both plugs are in the same cylinder?

I like NGK's. ill keep them in mind next time. I use them in my dirt bike.

As far as the Bosch goes, i am happy so far. I think it runs better and it gets 1-2 mpg better..... even towing. we towed a big trencher around yesterday and it got 11.4 mpg compard to stock plugs at 10.2 mpg.

when the spark plug's fire under exstream presure, they actully losse some of there power, thats why race cars and 1000hp dragsters use such exstream ignition and coil set ups. the stock coils just dont have enough umph to give the hotest spark, thats why the 6.1 and the crate motors have a biger coil pack. the more compresion and fuel, the more spark power is needed. like i said, shorty wire loose power, granted its not much lose but its a lose. unless your going to run nitrues then the lose is a good thing.

04 I think. I believe its more to do with the fact that he was running nitrous. You need to have oem wires, Taylor or other long wires or coil packs to properly run nitrous. The shorty wires cause problems with nitrous, they blow the wires right off.
