Hemi Antifreeze

Does anybody have any off the shelf recommendations for antifreeze on the 5.7 Hemi? I have an 03 Ram with the Hemi and it has the red colored antifreeze. What should I purchase to have on hand if I need to top off.

You need to find a HOAT type anti-freeze coolant that meets Mopar spec MS-9769. If you do a Google search for HOAT MS-9769 you'll be able to find off-the-shelf brands.

When I changed to a 180 T-Stat I could not find anything that had the same color, and I am kinda anal on O.E.M. and retaining the correct looks. So I completely flushed entire system until all water ran clear, then put in G.M.'s Dexcool which is a HOAT, meets DC's Specifications, and retains the proper color. I have been running Dexcool several months now with absolutely no problems. Hey I even think the GM coolant made it a little faster LOL

Yes I have heard that too but have been in the Automotive Field for some 25 years, and def. since Dexcool was introduced, have never seen it. That's just like all the talk with Fram filters failing. Surely if they fail, working in the field everyday I would have seen one first hand by now, but no, all I have heard is second hand?

I have seen first hand dexcool plugging radiators and heater cores. Just pull the radiator cap on a late model jimmy or blazer and you will see. Bet 30 percent are goo
