Ok, I'll start from the beginning and make it short along the way. Back around christmas my truck started jerking on cruise running between 65-75 mph. It only had this problem on cruise and never bothered me any other time. The truck ran fine shifting wise. At the time a few people on here suggested that the tps might be the problem. Well fast forward to a week ago my truck started having problems shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear, to the point it would only upshift if you did it manually. Otherwise it shifted smoothly in the other gears just like it has since the day I bought it. I checked the tps voltage and got readings of .60 to over 1.00 volt. Several members on here to me that meant that the tps was shot. Well I bought a new tps on thursday and put it on and it made a little difference to the truck. It now will shift from 2nd to 3rd on it's own but now it won't shift out of first unless you take your foot from the gas pedal and it sugres a lot in 1st gear at low speed (5-25 mph). I had done a search and found that the tps may need reset with a "drb tool"? I had also read that the tps might need to have the voltage set. So I now to tonight I went and checked the voltage and it was reading .73 which I understand is the right number for it to be at?? Well in the process of checking the voltage the orange wire running to the tps connector broke in two. I fixed the wire and started the truck and I got a check engine light. I borrowed a scan tool and got a
"PO123 generic tps/pedal psition sensor a control high output" message. There was no book to explain more on this code. My questions are: 1) does this mean that the voltage now needs to be set now that the wiring is is intact? 2) that the new sensor is bad? 3) or do I just need to reset the codes and try it again? Any help would be greatly appreciated. But I would however like to hear from those of you that have had this code or the similar problem first or if there are any mechanics reading this. The truck still runs the same after the wiring was fixed and it still has all four forward gears and reverse.

I think your error is P0123 and not PO123 (zero and not letter O).
You might find more information here: http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_cod...high-input.php Not sure about reseting TPS. Anybody? Did you get the same readings after fixing it? KP |

you dont have to reset the tps at all...just hook it up to a drb and make sure the tps volts are within specs

I have seen this "drb tool" post before. Where do I get one and how much are they?

LMAO!!!! OK I think I'll pass on that one. It would cheaper to just throw a match in the gas tank and turn it in on my insurance and start over with a different truck! LOL

Well I took the truck to a trans shop today and was told second gear is gone. I was quoted several price ranges from $1800 to $2500 for a rebuild and labor to remove and install.

$2500 is a little high for your truck unless that is with an extended warranty.

2 year / 24,000 miles warranty. The thing that is stumping me is that if the truck has lost 2nd gear what gear (other than 2nd) would be causing the truck to run around 3000 rpm at 30 mph? It seems to low an rpm for 1st for sure and to high for 3rd gear?
