have an 04 dodge ram qc. thought bought cuttin front coils but has anyone done this? how much to cut to take 2 in lower? just an idea. i want to lower my truck but don't have cash right now for the drop i want so was thinking of temporary drops(obviously the stock springs would permanent after cut lol) thanks for all the info in advance.

thers more to it than just trimming a coil or so..........if you do a 1/2 coil off the bottom only you will be a little over 1.5 roughly,but if you trim 1 full coil be prepared to have to remove the bumpstops and replace with smaller ones and even elongating your upper a-frame slots for more alignment adjustment......if your not prepared for that and your dead set on trimming,1/2 coil off bottom leaves less work,still a great ride,and will align.

If you choose not to mess with that I have new 2" drop coils with bumpstops included.

you know alot... and i want to get a 3/4 drop from you bad... but money tight and its killing me seeing my truck so awkward looking stock height..grrr but i was just brain storming...

Whats the best way to lower the rear? I cut my shackels but it was only 2 1/2 inch, is there any other way to go about 3 inches?

Here is mine, Front coil cut, Rear perches cut off housing and flip the rear put the perches back on and set the pinion angle and reweld them to the housing. And a set of 2nd gen drop shackles to raise the truck back up a few inches because a full flip will give 6" of drop. I bought a set of nitro drop shocks and new bump stops off Brian. So all I bought where drop shocks and bump stops and shackles.

Read post 2,as there is alot of info I placed in there for a reason. Yes there are econo ways of dropping trucks where no money is involved if you can fabricate,and can even get by without alignments is you can use a level,tape measure and a string.

Theres a reason theres not much talk about doing the springs and budget stuff written aloton the boards.......no one knows who is reading the info and maybe not gathering all the much needed info and screws something up on a new 30,000 truck. Also you never know who is giving the info may be leaving some major important info thats needed.

I sent you a lengthy PM letting you know who I am and sent links to galleries to check out on my site,and also link to my site and products.
I still want to see pics of your modded shackles,just out of curiosity,if you can send a few snap shots to my email.

I cut a full coil out of mine for ~ 3" drop and like Brian said, bump stops have to go and proper alignment is not possible w/o modding the slots. In the rear I picked up a set of used drop springs and shackles for a 5" drop. Brian will definately steer you in the right direction.

wow an old post come alive! don't think i'd feel comfortable enough doing this "cheaper" lowering myself. would eventually like to just order from slammed 1(brian) but be tough year job wise.

i dont like cutting coils on any vehicle....when coil springs are made their tempered a certain way with heating and cooling techniques....you heat up that coil to cut it you could seriously mess up the temper of the steel. just my opinion though....you do what you want.
