I am looking for a spin on tranny filter for my 2005 4.7 w/ 45 rfe auto , the OEM # 4799662 crosses over to Fleetguard TF-15071 and Fram FT-1223 , my dealer here in New Orleans say 4 weeks from the factory , and says he has a filter that will screw on but don't know the specs of the OEM and if microns are the same , dealer wants $35.00 for it , already got the in pan filter kit for a 62% savings @$12.18 , I am starting to wonder if these filter number are really even in production yet --------the oil type is another issue in its self, one dealer wants $8.00 per quart for the ATF+4 ,another at supposive jobber price $5.30, hear people talk about Amsoil for $140 per 5 gallons , that's $7.00 per quart ,hadn't shop price on that yet , what about the new Mobile Synthetic Trans Oil ----- I went to the speedy oil change and showed himthe truck and they said they could do it pull in , when I asked about ATF+4 he says " Oh, thats what you want , we do have it " , I wonder how many trucks across the nation that got their oil changed at quick service places really have the right oil in them ,I'd bet alot , and I don't here of massive numbers of tranny failures , so does it really matter , I don't want to be a test rat , I hopefully figure I 'll have to do a tranny oil change at last 3 times while I have this truck so want to get it right at the right price the first time , also thinking of adding a drain plug in the pan , any tips or suggestion on that , like who makes the best type plug and where to put it , thanks , T'Horn

Well, I can tell you that the AMSOIL would be $142.69 shipped to La at my dealer cost for forum members. This is for 2 - 2.5 gallon containers which is 20 qts total.

Always contact me directly for AMSOIL pricing for forum members.

As for the spin-on, I do have the number for the WIX filter but these filter are not available for purchase yet. The WIX number is 58843 and includes the spin-on, in-pan filter, and pan gasket.

...For the money...Amsoil is the way to go...I just started using the motor oil with a bypass kit and it is killer...my truck idles so much quieter with less of the racket I use to hear...i will be switching all my fluids over at the next scheduled changes...

I got my filters for my tranny at NAPA. Dealer did not have them when I needed them, and the NAPA store near me had them in stock. Funny thing, the dealer owns the NAPA store here.

Go with Amsoil. I put the Amsoil ATF in my transmission when it hit 60K. I've got almost 75K on the truck now. The Amsoil helped the transmission shift firmly and smoother, and runs about 20* cooler than the factory AFT+4.

If you feel you have to use ATF+4, Wally World sells it.

Chrysler approves licensed ATF+4. It's fully synthetic and available at the dealer or at you local autoparts store. I use Valvoline ATF+4. It's licensed and approved by Chrysler.

Valvoline ATF+4

I went to NAPA also. Asked for a Wix spin on. They said NAPA Gold and Wix are made in the same place. Well ok I guess, but so are alot of other things I don't want!
Anyway I bought spin on part#1085 and Filter kit #1-8595.

Anyone have a internet source on a magnetic bung & plug kit for the tranny pan?

edit: Summit has them, not magnetic though. drain plug kit
here is a magnetic plug that should fit that kit: magnetic plug

I don't just want a replacement pan with a drain plug. Is there a deep sump pan with a drain plug that has the spin filter conversion?
