Haynes manual wrong for 1991

Hey all. I've been chasing electrical demons, in my '91 Ram Van, and my Haynes manual is showing me some incorrect info. Specifically, the wiring diagram, for the '88-'91 vans. Several fuses shown are incorrect, compared to my '91 owners manual. Problem I'm having is, previous mechanic replaced a fusible link, in the pink/black, with a 30amp. fuse. This fuse blows when the starter engages. Although, if you change fuse with engine running, it won't blow. I lose my p.windows and blower motor. Anybody have a ignition harness schematic, other then Haynes?? Or does anybody have any thoughts on this problem?? Brad

You should go on Ebay and get yourself a used factory service manual.
I'll try and scan some schematics for you tonight.

Referring to post#1, the 30amp fuse is inline with the pink/black wire. Referring to the '92 wiring schematic (haynes), pink/black goes through a 50amp. maxi fuse. Might my problem be too low amperage fuse. I might try a thiker wire with a heavy duty fuse and holder, and see if this solves the problem. I'm just concerned about melting wires...Brad

I wouldn't do that. '92 is the first year for the Multi-Port fuel injected Magnum engines which required a totally different wiring harness that had different requirements.

Thanks for the wiring diagrams. I'll have to thoroughly go over them, before I try anything drastic.....Brad

After having gone over all wiring and diagrams, I believe all wiring under hood is correct. I removed the ignition switch, which I now believe is the problem. The 2 big contacts in the middle, shows signs of being burnt. These are the pink/black wire, and the black/red wire. The pink/black is the wire with the fuse under the hood, the back/red goes to the p.w.'s blower motor. I think the switch is crossed and throws a ground, when starter engaged, therefore, blowing fuse under hood.....

I used an old test trick, for when I was installing remote starters, for a living. I basically hot-wired the van. Everything worked as it should, so I'm pretty sure it's the ignition switch. I'm going to replace it this week, so I can drive it...

And yes I was 100% correct. I stopped at a local Dodge Dealer, today, and they actually had an ignition switch on hand. Put it in as soon as I got home. Everything works perfectly. Although, I haven't reinstalled the rear defroster switch yet, as it also shows signs of melting terminals. I might leave it out, as I don't plan on driving this in the winter...
