Hi all,

I have a month old inferno red, automatic, quad cab, 06 power wagon.

Last week while engaging the rear lockers I encountered a problem where the locker would engage but then disengage without me moving the switch back to the unlock position. I then had a service 4wd light illuminate on my dash. At the same time the light on the selector switch would alternate back and forth between locked and unlocked constantly blinking and never engaging one way or the other. After setting the switch back to the unlocked position, the light remained in the rear locked setting blinking and not unlocking. After shuting off the truck for about 30 minutes, I started it back up and the light on the switch was green in the unlocked position. I then was succesfuly able to engage and disengage the rear and front lockers. On the way back to my house I stoped by the car wash and power washed the truck. Nearly immediatly after starting the truck back up and placing it in drive the 4wd service light returned and the locker switch was green at the unlocked position but blinking orange in the rear locked position. Currently, this happens at random times while driving and sitting still with the engine running and sometimes while just in the on position with the engine off. While trying to engage the lockers now, they will not engage but the light just blinks orange in the unlocked position.

I took it in to my local dealership, where I got the truck, yesterday but they could find no problems. I do have an aftermarket stereo I installed a week after I got the truck (I'm an audiophile so dont burn me ),which they asked about, but I see no way that this could cause my problem, and no problems showed up for two weeks after I put it in. The stereo, amp, and two subs are the only mods I have other than a set of westin stepbars. The tech told me it was operating normaly and they had three guys check it out with no diagnosis. So I drove off knowing nothing was done and id be bringin it back soon. After driving 15 minutes the alarms went off again . I have searched on the forum and found a post from another member on his swaybar not reconnecting in which two others replyed saying there was a seal installed incorrectly on an electronics module on there power wagons. This sounded very similar to my problem. I dug up a service manual off a website and found some information on a final drive control module (FDCM) exclusive to the power wagons that controls the swaybar and lockers, which I think is the module they are talking about, but there is no information on where it is located. The swaybar disconnect works perfectly by the way. On the swaybar disconnect mechanism I noticed there is a large bundle of wires running to it and the harness appears to be the same as one shown in illustrations in the manual. Can anyone chime in on my problem or the location of this module so I can help out the tech guys at the dealer or try to fix it myself ?

This has been a kicka$$ truck otherwise and im hoping to get it out to our deerlease to do some offroadin soon.

I think I am the guy you are talking about. I continued to have problems evey time it got wet and the lockers refused to lock. The module is actually inside the swaybar disconect housing so the dealseship replaced my ENTIRE SWAYBAR on my thid trip back. Now everything works great. the lockers lock and the swaybar disconnects like butter in less than 30 seconds.

I had the same problem with mine.......the minute I picked it up for the stealership. They had done a dealer trade, so I didn't get to drive it before I bought it. Anyways, they had to order a new selonoid and locker for the rear, cause my rear locker wouldn't engage, and the rear locker light just blinked while I drove the truck, along with my service 4wd light staying on. After they installed the selonoid and locker, everthing has worked great. Hope this helps ya out.

Did this problem ever get resolved?
I am experiencing the same thing with mine. Has nothing to do with moisture though.
