1983 ram van 225 slant six auto with over drive. how to adjust odrive engage
point? when it shifts into 3rd, odrive always kicks in also. no seperation unless
under 35 mph. how do i stay outa odrive????????? thanx

Dodge didn't have overdrive automatics in vans until the late 80's (aka. A518 Torqueflite). Most likely the transmission you have is an A904, A998, or A999. What you are most likey experiencing is torque converter lock-up, which is totally normal and it kinda feels like it's shifting into another gear when in reality it isn't. There aren't any adjustments that I know of that can control the lock-up.

This all hold true unless someone swapped in true OD transmission into your van at some point.

Thank you very much, I looked at your msg and walked out and ask him,,, are you sure this has OD and he went, Oh crap, duh, I bet its the torque locking up,,, hahaha. As soon as I said it he realize what was up and he asked me to thank you for the help, sometimes it just takes that little prod in the right direction.
