Bold, tough, dependable, in-your-face Dodge Ram heritage conquers new territory and expands to the commercial chassis cab segment with the introduction of the all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab.

“The all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab charges into the Class 3 chassis cab segment, expanding the Dodge Ram portfolio and building on Dodge’s leadership position in the truck market,” said George Murphy, Senior Vice President – Global Brand Marketing, Chrysler Group. “The most upfit-friendly chassis cab in the segment, the Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab sets a new commercial standard by offering a powerful lineup of renowned engines, a commercial-grade chassis engineered to perform in the most demanding conditions, and bold Dodge Ram styling.

“With expanded capability, versatility and performance, the all-new Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab is the ultimate truck for the commercial customer looking for a dynamic, yet capable work truck,” Murphy added.

The 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab boasts the Class 3 segment’s highest single-rear-wheel Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 10,200 lbs., class-leading frame strength (50-ksi steel), largest standard fuel tank (52 gallons), best-in-class standard V-8 power (HEMI® with 330 horsepower), longest oil change intervals (15,000 miles) and best-in-class interior cab room of 121.7 cubic feet for Quad Cab™ models.

Upfit-friendliness is a prevailing theme of the all-new 2007 Dodge Ram Chassis Cab — the first Ram chassis with a one-piece C-channel frame (50-ksi steel), industry-standard 34-inch frame rail spacing and segment-exclusive flat, “clean” frame rails. Also unique in the segment, all chassis components are below the frame surface, assuring easy adaptability and versatility for virtually any upfit application. Offered in single-rear-wheel and dual-rear-wheel models, two cab-axle lengths (60 and 84 inches) are available.

Offering leading commercial performance, the all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab offers two powerful, legendary engine choices: the new 6.7-liter Cummins High Output Turbo Diesel with 305 horsepower and 610 lb.-ft. of torque, or the HEMI V-8 gasoline engine with best-in-class (for V-8 gasoline engines) 330 horsepower and 375 lb.-ft. of torque.

In developing the all-new 2007 Dodge Ram Chassis Cab, Dodge gathered considerable input from upfitters, second-stage manufacturers and end-users. Embracing their counsel, the result is the eye-catching, user-friendly, all-new 2007 Dodge Ram Chassis Cab, which delivers low cost of ownership and redefines the commercial standard for the Class 3 chassis cab segment.

Dodge Ram Leadership Expands to Commercial Truck Market
The all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab delivers Dodge Ram heritage, performance, capability and versatility to the growing commercial truck market.

Conquering new territory for the Dodge brand, the 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab combines commercial capability, durability and leading versatility in a vehicle targeted at small business tradesmen, fleet customers and traditional chassis cab users looking for more cab space, enhanced functionality and bold styling.

Expanding on a solid commercial foundation and lineup of full-size van, minivan and box-off commercial vehicles, the all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab is the latest innovative offering in a reliable portfolio of commercial vehicles and services designed for business customers.

The all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab joins the Dodge Sprinter, Dodge Ram pickup, Dodge Ram Box-off models and Dodge Caravan and Grand Caravan cargo vans in the Dodge commercial vehicle lineup.

Powerhouse Powertrain Choices: That Thing Gotta Cummins or a HEMI?
The all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab offers one of the market’s most potent powertrain combinations, ensuring superior capability and performance for commercial customer needs. The 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab comes standard with the legendary HEMI V-8, while a new Cummins engine — the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel — is also available.

Powerful, respected and with legions of loyal owners, the name “Cummins” continues its reign at the top of the heavy-duty pickup diesel segment. Delivering 305 horsepower at 3,000 rpm and 610 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,600 rpm, the available Cummins engine offers superior fuel economy while ensuring durability and a low cost of ownership for the commercial customer. Cummins-equipped Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab models boast best-in-class oil change intervals of 15,000 miles.

The standard 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 generates a best-in-class (for V-8 gasoline engines) 330 horsepower at 5,400 rpm and 375 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,200 rpm.

Since first introducing the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 with the 2003 model year, Chrysler Group has sold more than 1.6 million vehicles with a HEMI (through January 2006) and the legendary engine has consecutively earned a place on Ward’s 10 Best Engines list.

“Dodge owners want a tough, durable truck that gets the job done and nothing less than the powerhouse Cummins or legendary HEMI is worthy enough to power the all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab,” said Mike Donoughe, Vice President – Body-on-frame Product Team. “These leading engines deliver powertrain superiority and enhanced commercial performance while maintaining heavy-duty truck durability.”

The all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab offers a six-speed automatic transmission (diesel only) with Power Take Off (PTO) capability or a six-speed manual transmission with PTO capability. PTO is used to transmit engine power to auxiliary equipment such as hydraulics for a dump body, generator or other types of specialty commercial equipment. An available electronic-shift transfer case is offered and a factory-installed exhaust brake option contributes to both safety and superior brake pad life.

Commercial-grade Ride, Handling, Capability and Durability
The all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab provides expanded capability and durability with an all-new commercial-grade chassis boasting best-in-class frame strength (50-ksi steel).

All Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab models are “Job-rated” — designed, engineered, tested and built to meet rigid standards of commercial truck buyers. The “Job-rated” lineup consists of 4x2, 4x4, single-rear-wheel, dual-rear-wheel, regular and Quad Cab models.

The all-new Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab boasts Dodge Ram Heavy Duty’s superior suspension system, beefed up even more for commercial applications.

Both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive models feature a recirculating ball system that provides precise response and on-center steering feel through lower internal friction. New power steering lines contribute to the delivery of precise feel and response for improved handling.

The Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab features solid-beam front and rear axles, and a five-link, coil-spring front suspension with beam axle. A front and rear link-type sway bar and heavy-duty tubular shock absorbers are standard.

The rear suspension, common to both two-wheel and four-wheel-drive models, is equipped with leaf springs. The rear suspension on all Dodge Ram 3500 trucks include standard two-stage springs with three leaves, and separate auxiliary leaves as part of the spring design for even greater load-carrying capability.

Versus standard Dodge Ram 3500 models, other suspension enhancements include new front shocks, a new track bar and jounce bumpers, while rear suspension improvements include new springs, shocks, a narrower track, sway bar and jounce bumper.

With two available cab-axle lengths of 60 and 84 inches, the 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab delivers a best-in-class single-rear-wheel GVWR of 10,200 lbs. Maximum GVWR for dual-rear-wheel models is 12,500 lbs. When equipped with the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel, the Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) is 23,000 lbs.

The all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab provides extended brake pad life with the exhaust brake option. New brake components and standard four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock braking system (ABS) ensure superior safety and crash-avoidance capability. Components include chassis brake lines (brake and fuel bundle), rear brake lines, rear park brake cables and extensions, and brake friction material for improved wear.

New diesel engine mounts reduce vibrations through the steering wheel and floor and contribute to enhanced occupant comfort.

Class 3 Segment’s Most Upfit-friendly Offering
The all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab builds on Dodge’s rich commercial heritage and enters the marketplace as the Class 3 segment’s most upfit-friendly vehicle.

The 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab is the first Ram chassis with industry-standard 34-inch frame rail spacing, as well as unique-to-the-segment flat, “clean” frame rails. Another segment exclusive, all chassis components are below the frame surface, providing versatility for virtually any upfit application.

Meeting all cab-axle and industry upfitter specifications while ensuring commercial reliability and durability, bolt-on exhaust hanger brackets provide increased upfitter flexibility, and riveted cross-members behind the cab allow for easier modification. In addition, the one-piece C-channel frame, u-bolt access every 18 inches along the length of the frame and shear plate mounting locations identified along the frame all contribute to the 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab’s upfitter friendliness.

The Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab’s fuel filler is routed through the frame, and an optional mid-ship fuel tank frees up more space behind the rear axle for special upfit applications. Fuel and brake lines are routed together on the frame’s left side to make better use of space along the frame, which also has clearance for rear-exhaust routing.

Electrical connections are user-friendly thanks to three-fused battery feeds routed into the cab and onto the rear of the chassis. A high-current 50-amp ground stud is located at the rear of the frame. Upfitter wire circuits and electrical schematics will be identified in the body builder guide.

Together, these unique upfit-friendly enhancements provide a streamline assembly process that reduces costs for upfitters, second-stage manufacturers and customers.

“Big-rig” Ram Design Conveys Commercial Vigor
Ram’s bold, powerful design, instant recognition and commercial power is immediately conveyed in the all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab.

“With its massive crosshair grille and large headlamps as the focal point, the all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab retains the most recognizable design signature of any pickup truck,” said Rick Aneiros, Vice President – Truck Design. “The result is unmistakable bold Ram design in a commercial-grade pickup.”

With robust, “big-rig” styling, the bold front appearance of the all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab is reinforced by an equally bold hood and fender combination. Large 7 x 10-inch trailer tow mirrors are standard, and underneath the fenders are industry-standard 17-inch wheels.

The all-new 2007 Dodge Ram Chassis Cab is available in three trim lines: ST, SLT and Laramie.

Best-in-class Interior Room Combines Comfort with Commercial Convenience
Blending full-size interior comfort with commercial convenience, the 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab features best-in-class interior room of 121.7 cubic feet for Quad Cab models and 64.9 cubic feet for regular cab models, and an easy-to-navigate instrument panel cluster. The wide center stack contains heating, ventilation, air conditioning and audio system controls. Large, comfortable seats, including available bucket seats with leather trim, provide generous support while adding a rich appearance and upscale atmosphere to a commercial truck.

With seating for six, 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab Quad Cab models have four standard doors and 60/40 folding rear seats, delivering interior functionality and capability. Seat cushions fold up to create a tall storage area from floor to ceiling, and an optional floor section under the back seat folds open to form a flat-load floor, with ample additional storage in each of the foot wells.

Regular cab models offer just as much flexibility, with the unique cab size not only providing ample storage behind the rear seat, but also allowing for significant seat travel and ease in reclining for driver and passengers.

Heavy Duty Emphasis on Quality
The all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab delivers quality by the ton as more than 1.5 million customer-equivalent miles were logged by Dodge Truck engineers during the Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab’s development.

“Expectations are high as commercial customers expect to put their trucks to work and get exceptional performance, capability and durability,” said Stephen Walukas, Vice President – Corporate Quality. “Maximizing modern technology, the 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab delivers on our promise to provide the quality, reliability and durability necessary to meet our commercial customers’ needs.”

Special attention was paid to making significant improvements on diesel engine vibration with the development of new engine mounts, allowing engineers to make a 50 percent improvement in traditional steering-wheel and seat-track vibration. This tactile refinement, coupled with the new diesel engine, contributes to enhanced driver comfort.

All-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab Safety and Security Features
The all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab provides commercial vehicle customers with the highest level of safety and security technology ever offered in the Class 3 chassis segment. More than a dozen advanced safety technologies and enhanced accident-avoidance features are available.

Following is a list of safety and security features found in the all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab:

BeltAlert — Enhanced seat belt reminder system. If a vehicle is driven without the driver being properly belted, the system will periodically activate a chime and illuminate an icon in the instrument cluster to remind the driver to buckle up

Child-Protection Rear-door Locks — Allow customers to disable the rear-door, inside-release handle. A small lever on the door-shut face operates this feature

Constant Force Retractors (CFR) — Front outboard seat belts include a mechanical device designed to distribute the force of a seat belt according to the load of force exerted on it. CFRs are engineered to force-limit the belt system, and gradually release seat belt webbing in a controlled manner during an impact

Energy-absorbing Steering Column — Steering column utilizes two coaxial tubes that move relative to each other in order to allow the column to move forward for enhanced energy-absorption during an impact

Enhanced Accident Response System (EARS) — In the event of an impact, this system makes it easier for emergency personnel to see and reach occupants by turning on the interior lighting and unlocking doors after air bag deployment

Four-wheel Anti-lock-braking System (ABS) — Senses and prevents wheel lockup, offering improved steering control under extreme braking and/or slippery conditions

Integrated Remote Keyless Entry Transmitter and Ignition Key — The remote keyless entry locks and unlocks doors and turns on interior lamps. If the vehicle is equipped with a vehicle-theft security alarm, the remote also arms and disarms that system

Knee Bolsters — The steering column lower instrument panel and the glove-box door are reinforced to further protect occupants during frontal impacts. They both restrain and position the occupant properly and enable the air bags to work effectively

Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH) — This system helps ease the installation of compatible aftermarket child seats

Multi-stage Air Bag System — Offering enhanced protection, this system is designed to deploy based on the severity of an impact

Frame-rail Tips — Frame tips are designed to collapse rearward in a controlled manner during a frontal or offset-front impact

Seat Belt Pretensioners — During a collision, impact sensors initiate front outboard seat belt pretensioners to immediately remove slack from seat belts, thereby reducing the forward movement of the occupant’s head and torso

Security Alarm — Arms and disarms alarm feature through remote control, flashes lights and sounds horn upon unauthorized entry

Sentry Key Engine Immobilizer Theft Deterrent System — This utilizes an engine key that has an embedded transponder with a pre-programmed security key code. When the key is inserted into the ignition, the controller sends a random number to the transponder and the engine is allowed to start. If the correct key is not used, the engine will shut off after only a few seconds

Three-point Seat Belts — Front outboard seating positions and all rear seating positions in the Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab have lap and shoulder belts

Heavy Duty Manufacturing Investment
Supported by a supplementary $48 million capital investment, the all-new 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab will be built at Chrysler Group’s Saltillo Assembly Plant in Coahuila, Mexico. The plant is being expanded by 120,000 square feet for commercial vehicle production and will accommodate new frame configurations.

The 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Chassis Cab joins an impressive lineup of bold Dodge Ram trucks already built at Saltillo, including Dodge Ram Mega Cab, Dodge Ram Power Wagon, Dodge Ram SRT10 and Dodge Ram Heavy Duty 2500 and 3500 models.

“The Saltillo facility’s unique versatility, capability and adaptability makes it one of Chrysler Group’s most flexible plants, allowing the company to adjust production between the various models to better respond to customer needs,” said Frank Ewasyshyn, Executive Vice President – Manufacturing. “Chrysler Group’s flexible manufacturing capability helps to build a positive business case for new products and derivatives as each plant is able to maximize its production capacity.”

The $48 million investment for the all-new Dodge Ram Chassis Cab follows a recent $210 million investment for production of the all-new 2006 Dodge Ram Mega Cab in 2005. As a result, the plant will be able to handle increased capacity and full production of the vehicle’s all-new, commercial grade chassis and suspensions, including two cab-axle lengths, regular and Quad Cab versions, 4x2 and 4x4 variants, and single- and dual-rear-wheel models.

The Saltillo Assembly Plant has 2,100 employees working on two shifts and is one of five Chrysler Group production facilities in Mexico.
