Anyone know a gear installer, near Albuquerque, NM?

Just got a quote for $3k, parts / labor for both axles. Is that the going rate?

Find small REPUTABLE hot rod shops in your area. Go to as many as you can find. Ask who is best for gear installs on your Dodge. They will know. Get opinions and references. Go where your comfortable with.
I really don't know but 3 grand seems high for just gears. Could be using expensive brand of gears???
I'd rather pay a little more to have the best in the area do the job rather than save a little and problems later.
Good Luck.

Thanks man. I was a bit surprised it was that high. Have used this guy before on another car, so thought I'd check with him.

He said he would use Yukon gears, and includes a "Good Quality" Limited Slip Diff.

Labor $1300. Sounds kinda high for parts.

Will look around.

A lot of shops will not give you a warranty if you bring you're own parts. I have Yukon gears & like them very much. My mechanic told me it's some of the best looking aftermarket gears that he had ever installed. It's also very smart to find a shop that has done plenty of Mopar stuff and that's a fact.

So what are you saying. A guy that is competent on rebuilding Ford and Chevy's all day long is not capable of doing a Dodge??? That I find that very very hard to believe. Tell me what is so special about the Dodge other than some additional tools? The shop owner that did my truck back in 2008 had only done ONE Dodge prior to mine but tons of Ford and Chev's. Yet he had no problems getting mine done. He is a very Car Smart individual.
I agree with your point about providing your own parts and warranty. But a guy can use the prices listed to verify if he is getting hosed!! Or at the least use it a bargaining chip to try and get part prices reduced.

Ya I've read many of the posts over the years on botched gear installs. Lots of them! My bet is the techs doing these crappy gear swap over jobs are the same ones ******* up most other repairs that you hear and read about. Basically there incompetent licensed techs that don't take pride in there work!
Whether you have a license or not it comes down to ability. Lots (not all) out there today even with licenses that are flat out not up to the task at hand and take no pride in there work!.
I maintain
Any experienced Tech that is on top of his game. I repeat on top of his game should have no problem setting up gears on a Dodge Ram.

To the OP it is up to you to find one. Hot Rod shops, car show, swap meets etc are great examples to network to find someone.

Are you saying your labour is around $650??? front and rear bearings and gear set up. If so wish you were in my area.
Curious on this Supershafts. Do you find it necessary to remove the entire front diff housing when you do front gears?

#16 ·
That will happen from non use, laying long enough no oil is carried out to the axle bearing and slung off all over the inside tube. .

That rust is how you know a complete housing hasn't been disturbed in long a time, or if it has rust across say 60 percent of the tube it is only seeing very very short use trips.

See a boiler shop and get the long tube cleaning brushes, go thru the housing with it and then put it on a drill.

Just for the record.. I said. that there are people out there that would say that about Motive or other gear makers & they have on some others web sites I've been to. I know from now on on this damn website, if anyone else wants to know anything about everything they have you....Mr. Mopar Specialist. You are very smart but you're also very arrogant at the same time.

If you can read we all see what i stated
I corrected you in saying what you said earlier, so for the record if someone made such a statement about Motive, US Gear, AAM, Dana, Nitro they would be making a UN-True statement. .there are others but since their quality is lacking no sense in making mention

Not everything, but shaft and diff related questions i will have the answers.

I would rather get the bad, repackaged gears & deal with it than to put up with your arrogance for 30 seconds.. God help your family, friends & you.

Do you wear a dress? I made a factual statement, wasnt directed at you, never brought up YOU and your negative nancy whining issue...

This is a forum and if you lack the ability to give factual knoweledge for others to MAKE their own decisions then sit there and be quiet , no one cares you would make a stupid decision and deal with over priced parts that could be annoying...

Pretty much to sum it up simpler youre reply is just utterly stupid...

I can wear you're dress or anyone else's thanks to the American soldier, the American constitution & God. On this site, I'll say what I want...when I want.. right or wrong so sue me. To my amazement, I have enjoyed all of this banter because it shows me and others what a warm heart you have & what a good person you are. Always putting others first & what manners you have. Your Mom has got to be proud of you. Well, got to go...I don't want to take up anymore of your time because it might get in the way of you writing a check to the United Way or helping an old lady across the street.

Fortunately this site isnt nor does it need to allow you 1st ammd rights. .
Something else you don't understand.. You really are showing your________ or you're ________ __________.

This is a forum to help others,. If you think your repies have made anything helpful.... well again just a utterly stupid reply.
.
To answer you directly on a post you made here that you may have thought was helpful... actually a rather silly statement also.....
Dodge doesnt do anything special like some German cars where needing to be a Dodge only differential expert would make a difference. .

AAM isnt Dodge, Dana isn't Dodge neither is ZF (now at the front of trucks) so we see that the help you put forward are that of utterly stupid replies and wasting bandwidth. .
